We developed the fastest camera bag ever: "Herr Michl"
So why is it the fastest camera bag? The secret is: The strap of the camera is also the strap of the bag. The innovative design of the bag (patent pending) makes it possible to get the camera out of the bag with one single move. Since you are wearing "Herr Michl" on the left side, you grab the camera with your right hand and you can already put your finger on the trigger. Tadaa! As soon as the camera is out of the bag you can already release the shutter.
With the left hand you move the bag to your back so it doesn't disturb you while you are shooting. To be even faster, we added a hold on strap at the end of the bag.
Safety is a very important issue. The great thing about Herr Michl is that when your camera is outside of the bag, the bag is at your back. So you never put your bag aside but carry it always with you, which makes it theft proof. That's why Herr Michl is also the safest camera bag ever!
We wanted our camera bag as lightweight as possible, so you don't even notice that you are wearing a bag. We came up with a solution to use PET recycled felt as the main component. Felt is super light, shockproof, water-repellent and on top of it looks pretty awesome.
To make it look even better we added natural tanned leather and color.
The material of the pocket lining is water-resistant and the perfect material to put your camera in and out of the bag quick and smoothly. In addition to that, the material is also perfect to ensure that your camera is kept clean from dust.
Wearing comfort and a perfect fitting are absolut essential for us.
The strap comes in two different lengths and additionally each strap is size adjustable. On the top of this we send you also a longer end part of the strap (no extra costs) - to enable you a perfect fitting in case you are a tall guy (or girl).
For us it was very important that the strap is comfortable to wear and at the same time super smooth to move your camera really fast. That's why our strap is made out of durable natural tanned leather and a comfortable fabric. The strap is lined with felt, which assures a great wearing comfort and a good, safe and stable fitting.
The color of the strap is blue and the leather part is a beautiful whiskey tone. As the leather is a product of nature slight variations of the color can be possible.
As soon as we reach our stretch goal of 10.000€ the strap will be also available in a stylish yellow!
To open and close the bag super easy and quick, it has an overlap closing system with a magnetic clasp. In addition to that - when you don't want to use your camera for a longer period of time - you can also put a leather lug through a metal ring and close the bag with a magnet.
On travels you always have some small stuff carrying with you. For example your wallet, your phone, your passport, keys ... Based on the feedback of some user testing we added an outside zipper so you can store some of your important stuff inside "Herr Michl". The zipper is always next to your body, so all your belongings are safe.
The standard sized bags even come with an additional zipper at the inside of the bag for easy and quick access of additional stuff such as batteries, your lens cap, tickets,...
Herr Michl will be patented! The patent registration procedure is already in progress.
How is the camera fixed to the strap?
The camera is fixed to the strap with a metal triangle and a metal swirl, which ensures that your camera is installed safely and at the same time super flexible in moving.
What is the meaning of the name?
"Herr Michl" means in German "Mister Michl" and was initially a tribute to Michael (project initiator) from Iris (designer) & Bettina (bag manufacturer).
Can I even bring a second lens?
Yes! A smaller lens can be packed behind the outside zipper.
One of our stretch goals is to develop a case for the standard bag that can be attached with a practical Velcro strip at the inside of the bag. In that bag you can store an additional lens (and is also practical for taking e.g. a water bottle with you).
Can I meet "Herr Michl" somewhere?
Yes, you can! We are at the "Photo & Adventure" fair in Vienna on November 24th/25th and would love to get to know you in person. There you can also meet "Herr Michl".
Since we are producing in Europe and we want to ship our first batch before Christmas, the shipment of the first 50 bags (early bird) will be restricted to the EU. With the upcoming batches we will expand our shipment to the whole world.
Why we need your help
We just finished the first batch of bags. With your pledge we will be able to go into series production. You can be among the very first people to own one "Herr Michl". Get yours now. And if you like it, then please spread the word.
Our stretch goals
* We reserve the rigth to implement minor changes of the bag and strap to further improve its design and/or functionality.
Risks and challenges
Manufacturing all the orders won’t be a problem, as the entire production will be executed by our own. Since Bettina, our bag manufacturer, has experience with over 15 years developing bags, we do have really professional people around us that have the experience and the infrastructure for producing our bags.
We already experienced that it's not always easy to get all material on time. Since we want to produce in Europe and use material that meets high ecological standards.
To overcome this challenge, we already ordered all the material we need for the very first 50 "Herr Michl's". So we can assure that we will finish them on time. That's also the reason why the early bird bags will come in blue color.
As we know that shipping can cause some hiccups, we will stay in touch with you all the time and send out regular updates to keep you informed on your order.
It's very important that as soon as the project has finished we get your information about your address so we can deliver "Herr Michl" as fast as possible.
However you can be sure that your bag will be made with a lot of love and crafted with the utmost care.
Worst thing that can happen to us, is an increased interest on "Herr Michl" which forces us to rethink our production cycle, since this is not designed to produce and ship 1000 bags a day yet. But this should be the smallest problem and one we would really like to challenge.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
