About this project

THE GOAL

Dizzy Miss Lizzie has a new project cooking! Help us bring our new show, Dizzy Miss Lizzie's Roadside Revue presents The Brontes Go To Dizzy-Land, to life! Why do we need your hard earned dollars? Your donations will go toward:

2 upcoming readings/workshops.

And a production in the 2012 Capital Fringe Festival, of our new, original rock and roll, theatre experience, Dizzy Miss Lizzie's Roadside Revue presents The Brontes Go To Dizzy-Land.

THE PROJECT

The famous 19th century writers, Charlotte, Emily, Anne and Branwell Bronte, take a psychedelic trip to "Dizzy-Land" to tell their stories of love, lust and life on the moors with the help of a rocking band of gypsies, carnies, con-men and fortune tellers.  DMLRR continues to explore and expand upon their unique brand of storytelling via rock and roll. through this new piece, inspired by the original goth girls, the Bronte sisters.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

Being a raucous-rowdy-rock-band-theatre-company-self-producing-all-original-work is not as easy as it looks!

Hold your lighters aloft, this is the part where we thank you in advance for your generosity and tell you how much we love you and need your support! We of DMLRR do our best to make every penny count. Donations of any amount are meaningful and deeply appreciated. Your donations not only help us put this production on its feet, they also allow us to keep writing, performing and creating this wonderfully rocking, unique thing we call DMLRR.

Your donations will help us cover all of the expenses of:

2 readings/workshops.  Reading and workshops give us the opportunity to hear the show out loud, figure out what's working (or what's not), so we can re-write, edit and make changes. In short, make the show better!

And the Fringe Festival Production including: rehearsal space, Fringe Festival fees, scripts and materials, costumes, sets/props, sound equipment, lighting design, actor fees, stage manager, marketing/PR, postcards/posters, graphic design, programs-everything that goes into making the show look and sound great and selling out every show.

ABOUT DIZZY MISS LIZZIE'S ROADSIDE REVUE

"Party ready... A little bit of Woodstock... The band rocks with muscular, high spirited music"          The Washington Post

"Rock n’ roll and in your face attitude... with humor and panache... rollicking folk-rock, heartfelt acoustic ballads, charging hard rock, and even Pink Floyd-esque space rock... an edgy, full- throttle ride"                                                                                         DC Theatre Scene

"Hard rocking rhythm, low-tech storytelling and kick-ass musical performances by DMLRR’s exceptionally talented ensemble cast..."                                                                 ShowBiz Radio

"Legitmate theatre, perfectly executed, but with a punk aethestic"                                                           Arlington Examiner

Dizzy Miss Lizzie’s Roadside Revue is theatre and vaudeville. It’s rock and roll, bluegrass and Americana. It’s the spirit of Woody Guthrie and the dustbowl wrapped up in a gyspy punk.  It’s pure storytelling with bare hands and authentic voices. Storytelling cranked up good and loud through a Telecaster and a Marshall amp.

DMLRR was founded in 2008 in Washington DC by veteran actor/musicians Debra Buonaccorsi and Steve McWilliams. Dizzy Miss Lizzie's Roadside Revue presents all original works, with music, lyrics and scripts written by Debra Buonaccorsi and Steve McWIlliams.  With DMLRR, Debra and Steve have co-written their adaptation of Aeschylus’ Oresteia, The Saints and Finn McCool. DMLRR has been seen throughout the DC area- at the Capital Fringe Festival, The Keegan Theatre, the Arts on Foot Festival, Woolly Mammoth Theater, and at Signature Theatre.

You can view a short video on this page. Just click on the picture. This clip is from our last production "Finn McCool" it will give you a taste of Dizzy Miss Lizzie's Roasdside Revue .
