TARGET HITCH USA - HOW
IT ALL BEGAN:
Jim Trevino, inventor of the Target Hitch lives on the rugged Oregon Coast with his wife and children. Several years ago while on a camping trip, he witnessed a huge marital spat about hitching a trailer. He had seen this same argument between spouses many times and was certain there needed to be a better way, an easier way – to begin a journey. It was time to take the matter into his own hands. And so, Target Hitch USA was born and Jim began in earnest to work with engineers and patent specialists to get the product designed. That brings us to now, with the product patent-pending and ready for the final stages of production.
We connected with an organization called Craft3 which is a non-profit that helps start-ups like Target Hitch acquire seed money. An initial investment was obtained from them that jump started production. We have our molds on order and need another $49,000 to finalize tooling and facilitate our first inventory of hitches. We have been a grass roots effort since day one, working in alternative, creative ways to achieve our goals, so it seemed fitting that the Kickstarter community would be a good place for us to raise the last of our production capital.
If you have ever started your journey with stress due to the difficulty of hitching in the rain, the dark, tight space conditions or with an inexperienced spotter. If hitching your vehicle has ever been a source of tension between you and your spouse. Target Hitch can change all of that! Hitching becomes a breeze!
Additionally, even if you will never need a vehicle hitching device, we would greatly appreciate your support as we work to get this small, family-owned business into action!TARGET HITCH PRODUCT IMAGES
To see how an actual Target Hitch device is used, check out the video below, starring Target Hitch founder, Jim Trevino, demonstrating the ease of his invention!
Target Hitch is MADE IN AMERICA!
Several Years of engineering work and prototyping have resulted in a beautiful invention that, as founder, Jim Trevino likes to say, "Looks simple on the outside but is complex on the inside." Target Hitch is designed to make your travel experience easier, more convenient and more enjoyable.
THE GREATER VISION
Target Hitch began as one man's dream. It was about making a difficult task easier and also about bringing some more goodness into this world. Jim worked for a significant stretch on his own, eventually bringing consultants into the mix, and then he started accumulating a team of people that shared his vision of travel and more importantly of building a company that offered a positive work environment where creative thinking, teamwork and, of course, hard work, are rewarded.
The goal set at the initiation of this project ($49,000) was specifically about getting the necessary equipment to produce the Target Hitch product.
However, this project is not about a single performance or an isolated experience, incredibly worthwhile though those aims are, the larger Target Hitch goal does not ultimately make this world visually or artistically more appealing. The expanded Target Hitch goal is about bringing peace of mind to the journeys: the journey of travel and the journeys of our lives. One of the primary objective of the Target Hitch founder, was to use an idea, which grew into his invention, and is now evolving into a viable product with an extensive market, which will offer people in a economically lack luster location, opportunities to work and to bring a little peace of mind to their own personal journeys.
When Target Hitch achieves $100,000, it will be able to produce sustainable, sale-able inventory. At $200,000 it will be able to complete our physical facility and at $300,000 we will be able to offer the first of our permanent additional positions. HELP US TO REACH OUR GOALS and, as you follow our journey, you will watch as YOU take an active role in creating the positive economic changes that make the most difference in our world - because they are earned.
THANK YOU AGAIN, for tuning in, and THANK YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN for your support!
Risks and challenges
As with any small start-up business, there are a multitude of risks, and honestly, every day brings new challenges. Fortunately we have plenty of tenacity and creative problem solving skills!
Some of our specific challenges:
The engineering process has been intense and also rewarding. We are very grateful to our design, mechanical & electrical engineers for all of their hard work. Many times during this process we have relentlessly pushed them to achieve the ultimate device functionality. Our founder, and the Target Hitch inventor, Jim Trevino, likes to say, “It looks simple on the outside, but it is complex on the inside.” It was Jim's three-year chore to trudge through countless difficulties that produced a product designed to bring ease to your journey. The product has been tested, and re-tested by our engineers, designers and beta-users, where it surpassed our expectations with flying colors. That is the risk. We are prepared to immediately respond with any necessary actions to ensure that our product performs as promised.
Additionally, there might be some risks and challenges from the supply sector, although to mitigate those, we have, wherever possible coordinated back up suppliers.
One of the biggest challenges we are currently facing is the transition from being an operation of one (supported by consultants), to being a team that supports each other. The challenge has been rewarding thus far, and we are optimistic that as our team grows, it will grow awesome.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
