La Sonrisa began in the Spring of 2010 with the simple idea of offering our unique, family inspired empanadas at street fairs in New York City. We knew we had something special in our great tasting, deliciously prepared empanadas, so we turned a simple idea into a lifelong passion.
Our goal is to start a frozen food line and have La Sonrisa Empanadas in local supermarkets and grocers. We hope with the efforts of this Kickstarter to start this journey by completing our production facility and having the funds to kick start this project.
Here are some of the things we need:
- Commercial Freezers & Refrigerators
- Commercial Stoves
- Food Packing Equipment
- Stainless Steel Tables & Racks
- Packing & Promotional Materials
- And Much, Much More!

The name, La Sonrisa, is derived from the Spanish word for smile and that is precisely what we intend to put on the faces of everyone who has the opportunity to enjoy our awesome empanadas.
With a lot of of determination, enthusiasm and luck, we set out to introduce our empanadas to as many people as possible. Our dream began and continues to grow by working street fairs, music festivals and special events. Our customers also enjoy our empanadas and other dishes at our food truck in Jersey City, NJ.
La Sonrisa has gotten alot of positive press this past year, with write ups in TimeOut NY (http://bit.ly/H6nVrk) and New York Magazine's GrubStreet. We were also called one of "The Four Best Things to Eat at the Columbus Circle Holiday Market" this past December by the Village Voice (http://bit.ly/sGECJJ). You can also catch a quick glimpse of us on Bravo's hit show "Bethenny Ever After" (http://bit.ly/HbjWYc).
We are excited and humbled by all the possibilities. And with your help, we will be able to bring a genuine smile to many more people, by giving them a chance bite into a La Sonrisa Empanada.
Thank you and don’t forget to Sonrisa!
