About this project
What is "Made in Taiwan"
“Made in Taiwan" is a mini-documentary that will follow us on our journey across Taiwan as we uncover some of the forgotten culture, food and geographical regions of this small, but vibrant island. Although Taiwan may be small in size, it has rich history and culture that dates back more than 400 years of recorded history. On our journey, we will uncover the past, present and future of Taiwanese culture from local night markets and unique foods to Buddhist temples and lush geographical destinations.
Who is behind "Made in Taiwan"
"Made in Taiwan" is co-created by Paul Lin and Kyle Novak with help from the documentary host, Helen Lin.
Paul and Kyle have over 15 years of filmmaking and storytelling experience under their belt. Using state-of-the-art camera and sound equipment, they will capture breath-taking images of the Taiwanese landscape and compelling shots to be used for the documentary.
Helen Lin has spent the past two years living her dream in Los Angeles, CA. As an adventurist, aspiring actress and travel junkie, she is always looking for new opportunities to travel and host. For "Made in Taiwan," Helen will be our on camera host as well as the off-camera narrator.
How will this project be funded? What is the funding for?
Since all travel expenses to and from Taiwan are completely covered by ourselves, the funding will only be used towards production costs. We will be turning towards YOU, the backers of kickstarter to reach our goal of $3000.
In order to create a documentary that is professional and festival-worthy, we will need extra equipment such as microphones, steady-cam rigs, light-weight tripods and more. We will also use the funding to cover admission fees, festival registration fees and hopefully have funds left over to distribute our finished product to student taiwanese organizations around the country.
What is the status of production?
"Made in Taiwan" is currently in pre-production. The itinerary is still being finalized and the script is being written. Production is scheduled for May 7, 2012 to May 23, 2012. Editing will take place for two months and the final product will be available in late-July.
