Update: Thank You Everybody!!
We're so excited we get to make OUR record because of YOU!! Can we keep this going?! If we can raise more money we can do more things: promotion, distribution, marketing, videos ...
When we first started this crazy ride on the crowdfunding highway, we figured out the minimum costs to write, record, and produce a record that you'd all want to hear. Now that we've reached that initial goal and still have two more weeks to go... we've come up with two new stretch goals to bring you all some really cool new rewards, and to help us do even more to get our new music into your hands.
So ... once we reach $100K, we'll throw in an acoustic (digital) version of us singing "Thank You For Reminding Me," And, if we can raise $115K, we'll produce an acoustic version of the whole album (to give to all of our wonderful backers, sometime in 2015!). If it goes beyond that... well, we’re cooking up some fun new opportunities for you to see us play -- but more on that later.
Your energy and generosity has been amazing -- please keep it going and help us spread the word (and the music)!
- Kenny, Georgia and Gary

Hey … Kenny here. Thanks for watching my video and giving me the chance to invite you to help me and my new band - Blue Sky Riders. As an artist, I’m thrilled there’s a way for me to make you a part of my newest musical journey. The business of making music is reinventing itself and this crowd-funding thing is just as cool for me as it is for you.
I’m launching this Kickstarter Campaign for a couple of reasons – to generate funding for recording our next album and to connect directly with the folks who love music enough to support its creation. As a band, we’ve come up with some cool ways to get you more involved: everything from your ideas for T-shirts to helping us name the new album. (And if you kick in some serious bucks we’ll even let you sing with us on a song). But it’s not just about the money, (granted that’s a BIG deal) - it’s about staying creative and vital by embracing the new way that music is made.
My project has five goals (1 through 4 by hitting the funding goal, and the last goal will be funded with a higher level of support):
- 1. Give you a voice in the process
- 2. Go overboard in communicating updates throughout the fundraising and album making period
- 3. Record our new album!
- 4. Capture and share exclusive footage of the album being written and recorded.
- 5. Promote the new album
Why I am doing this
I believe that the way music is made and shared has fundamentally changed, and I love where it’s heading. Gary, Georgia and I created our own label to release our first album in 2013. With the rise of Crowd Funding, I’ve realized that there is one more step to be taken towards the ultimate realization of an artist’s dream - direct connection with our audience! Your assistance will allow my bandmates and I to create new music that reflects our vision. In short, we need and want your help.
What I’ll use the money for
I’m grateful for your support and promise complete transparency during the entire process. Basically, we plan to use your pledges to pay for creating, documenting, and distributing our new album. Since we are our own label, we aren’t receiving any backing from music corporations and truly get to do it our way. Specifically, we’ll be using the proceeds to:
- Fulfill Kickstarter rewards
- Compensate our co-producers, musicians, engineers, graphic designers, and the many other creatives
- Rent studio time and equipment
- Travel to and from recording sessions (Nashville and Ojai, CA)
- Mastering and manufacturing of the album
- Anything extra (God willing) will go toward marketing/publicity and touring activities so we can see more of you on the road.
At the end of this wild ride, we’ll have a new album and loads of exclusive behind the scenes footage to share with you. Which leads to …
What you’ll get out of it
First and (I hope) foremost, you’ll get the satisfaction of helping independent artists, (Yes, “Indie at any age!”) make new music that you’ll be able to say, “Finally! Somebody’s making music for ME!”
Secondly, you’ll be using your voice and your wallet to tell music corporations that you are a valid audience that deserves a say in the music being made. (That’s why Indie Music exists.)
Lastly - myself, Gary, and Georgia are also committed to engaging with our supporters through project updates, videos, social media interaction, and before/during our live shows. Those of you who have seen BSR live already know this.
You can contribute as little as a dollar (or as much as you’d like) – we’ve created a pretty cool reward structure with music, autographed merchandise, behind the scenes video content, tickets to the launch-party show, sitting in on a recording session, and even the chance for us to write a song just for you and yours.
Kenny and Georgia would like to make clear that most of the following tier "descriptions" have been written by Gary, who, it seems, feels the need to "elaborate and clarify" in order to make us seem more accessible and human. Kenny and Georgia would like to distance themselves from any and all attempts at humor.
What we need you to do
I can’t do this without your help.
A pledge of any size today is greatly appreciated. But beyond that contribution, I ask that you help us publicize our campaign by posting updates about your support on social media - especially Facebook and Twitter. Your donation and participation makes you a part of the story just as much as we are.
I am grateful for and humbled by your support.

Here's an example of us writing our song, called "What Went Right" -- we call it a timeline video, where you can watch how the process came into being.
Risks and challenges
I want each and every backer to be happy and will do whatever I can to make that happen. I don’t foresee any problems, as I’ve looked over other successful projects and talked to some of my industry friends who’ve done this before to create an ample budget for our costs/overhead to ensure we have the ability to meet our promises. Of course, I can’t anticipate everything, so if we do ever run into a problem, we’ll work it out – no exceptions.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
