"Uncovered Obsidian" is a Musical Project collecting a set of Cover Songs originally recorded by Black Hard Rock Artists, many associated with the Black Rock Coalition formed by Vernon Reid (of the Band Living Colour) to highlight and showcase just how many different artists just in the last 20 years have been inspired or were working in concert with their efforts to help break down and climb over social and racial barriers in the music industry. I was member of the BRC almost 20 years ago and this project is my own thanks to all the friends - some of whom are now family - that I first met back then, their courage to make the music they wanted to make despite how the industry ignored them, and told them they should just make "R&B" or "Rap" like all the other black people was and is amazing. Music is about Freedom, if you can't make the music you want to make - you are not free. Many things have changed since then, many things are better, but their courage has not.
I've been a musician for 30 years, and released my own first Solo CD "Re-Evolutionize" - playing all the instruments and vocals myself - in 2008. Now I'm turning what I've learned during all that time to this project - to honor all of these men and women who bucked the odds. Some of them ultimately reached a wide audience - many of them did not - nearly all of them deserve to.
As the project progresses it will be documented on the new website http://uncoveredobsidian.supereshops.com and via it's Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/UncoveredObsidian) and Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/UObsidian) Pages.
One Song from Each of the Following Bands will be Included (Covered) in the Uncovered Obsidian Project.

was formed in the early '90s, some of its members had impressive
resumes. Lead singer Bernie K had been with the superb all-black heavy
metal band Sound Barrier, while guitarist Victor Johnson had been a
member of the fun and slightly less obscure Bus Boys. This metal/hard
rock release -- sort of Living Colour meets Mother's Finest meets Led
Zeppelin -- isn't as original as either Sound Barrier or the Bus Boys,
but it isn't anything to be embarrassed by either.
