Forgot to say that I'm really excited about receiving the game in summer.
And again: Really good solution for the awkward business of changing an already well-established (among the backers) game name!
If I were to pick this up in a store, I'd definitely be intrigued and want to buy the game.
I was super sceptical about the rebranding, but I really like the mock-up for the new box cover. Even though I would have preferred keeping the original name, I think that Vast is a good choice!
I don't mind the dragon's chin either, or rather I don't see what's wrong with it.
What about the opportunity to offer a download of the olod box cover for self-printing?
There's no lawyer in my shelf looking through my games.
Or the "The" above the "Vast", making it "The Vast Crystal Caverns".
All the letters in the same size like now, so that "Vast" is still the Main Title, but it could be read smoother as a sentence.
"Vast" sounds funny! And not "Funny as in Hahahaha"...but "Funny as in weird and it doesn't feel/sound right".
Sorry...I'm just being honest. Had the name been "The Vast Trove: Crystal Caverns"...I would have been Ok with that as it rolls off the tongue better. This just sounds awkward!
I also prefer the original name. Who asked you to change it? Trion? They have a video game named Trove...
I like how it bugs me… the chin I mean.
For the name… bleh.
I want it on the record that having become accustomed to calling the game "Trove" for so long, it's currently really hard to picture it as "Vast" despite it being my suggestion. I think as we all became attached to the game we also all became attached to the original name and, again, I'm sorry you were asked to change it. I think a somewhat mixed reaction would've been expected regardless of which new name was chosen (of which you had several equally fantastic choices to pick from). There were many other catchy/appropriate suggestions I would've personally supported wholeheartedly as well, but they'd never be the name I had come to associate the game with.
That said and done... I'm incredibly excited and honored that you settled on "Vast"! Despite what I just said, I obviously wouldn't have suggested it if I didn't think it would make a good name. I can't tell you how shocked I was to see it do so well, let alone become official! I'm dumbfounded, proud, and a wee bit giddy! So thank you. Thanks for letting the community try to help you out of an unfortunate situation, in which my suggestion was simply lucky enough to stick. I'm very glad you are excited about the title, and (although I'm biased) I think once we're used to calling it "Vast: The Crystal Caverns" it will work very well for you going forward!
Sorry, I really prefer Trove.
I'm sorry that you were approached and asked to change it.
I'm curious to know when we will complete the survey, like the adress we want it ship etc.
Great name. However, similarly to what other fellow backers have stated -- the intersection of text and chin kind of bugs me.
Vast doesn't blow me away but I agree that Vast: Crystal Caverns is better.
Bleh, not a fan of the name at all but looking forward to playing the game nonetheless!
Yep I agree with Ben on the whole Vast: Crystal Caverns naming. I think it sounds just a bit better and leaves it open for naming of future expansions. But I don't know how to feel about the dragon's chin, cause I love how it looks, but the way the "T" intersects with it just . . . I don't know.
The game still looks amazing, that's the key thing. The name is OK, I guess. I feel it should have been a noun (e.g. NOUN: the crystal caverns) - VAST / ADJECTIVE: the crystal caverns sounds a little odd.
But a rose (or in this case, an asymmetrical game with beautiful art and great gameplay) still smells as sweet - look forward to getting the final version
Awesome update and congrats Timothy!!
Going with Vast I think "Vast: Crystal Caverns" flows a bit better than "Vast: The Crystal Caverns"
Works better without the article and for future expansions would be just as good, in my personal opinion:
Vast: Plains of Despair!, Vast: Oceans of Gold, etc...

I agree about the dragon chin, it's borderline a tangent. At first I didn't notice it - but now I can't stop seeing it
That chin just doesn't work. The name itself is starting to grow on me, but the dragon's chin is just right there...
