We are Solasta, a London based folk trio. Our first ever performance was in 2015 at the Cecil Sharp House Senior Fiddle Championship (which our fiddler Elisabeth won!). We recorded an EP in October that year, and since then have been busy performing all across the country, including venues like The Green Note, Celtic Connections Festival and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. We will be especially busy this summer - as well as a Scottish tour, we are EFDSS Folk Rising Plus Artists at Sidmouth Folk Week 2017.
During the last two years, we have been intensively writing and arranging new material, and are now ready to record our debut album. This is an important moment in the development of any band, and we want to put all our efforts into making it as good as we possibly can. We have booked the magnificent Felin Fach Studios in Wales, and have assembled a collection of amazing creative professionals to help us realise our vision.
We are so excited to record and share this new music with you - if you can, we would be grateful if you could share or donate to our campaign.
Thank you for reading,
Elisabeth, Hannah and Jamie x
Risks and challenges
As an independent artist, making an album is an expensive process. We will need to pay for recording studio time, mixing and mastering, album artwork, filming a video and CD printing, and we are all either recent graduates or current students.
If you back this campaign you will be actively participating in the entire creative process surrounding this album. As well as your chosen reward, we will be posting regular updates throughout the campaign, so you can follow us every step of the with videos of pre-studio rehearsals, exclusive previews of new material, and unique insight into our time in the studio.
If the campaign is successful, we will put on a benefit concert to show our gratitude, and will be donating all proceeds to charities of our choosing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
