Before, the only way to get a high-quality 3D movie experience was at the theater. Now you can watch 3D even better from your couch.
To give the illusion of 3D, most movie theaters project two distinct images onto the same screen through polarizing filters. Your big, plastic glasses filter out the images so one eye sees only one version.
In this process, you lose more than 75% of the light—and the images never quite match up. This is why you often lose the crispness of the images, and why some people even feel nauseous.

A lot of the reason why movie theaters provide such an enthralling experience is because you feel immersed in the film.
Typically this is done by making a physically larger screen. However, bigger doesn’t always mean better.
Your vision consists of two portions: a central portion (30 degrees in either direction of the center), and a peripheral portion (the rest of your vision range).
Even though we perceive objects in our peripheral area as blurred, making an experience truly immersive requires that the visuals extend into that space.
After extensive testing, we believe we have found the perfect combination of clear image and the feeling of immersion: 66 degrees.

Never Miss a Detail
Dual Screen Solution
Most existing headsets use a single screen and split it down the middle into left and right regions. This leaves each eye with a square-like peephole with an aspect ratio of 0.89.
If you’re wondering why this feels so inadequate, it’s because most movies have an aspect ratio of 2.39. So when you play a movie on a typical headset, to keep the ratio, only about 47% of the screen can be used—rendering over half the pixels useless.

With more than half the pixels out of commission, it’s no wonder the image quality suffers.
To give you the highest quality display ever, CINERA provides an entire unique display panel for each eye. Each of these panels are optimized for movie-viewing, letting more than 95% of all the pixels shine.
More Pixels, More Quality . . . Or Not?
You probably have heard of PPI, or Pixels Per Inch. (Most of us became familiar with the term thanks to Apple’ retina display.)
While PPI can be a helpful stat, it doesn’t tell the entire store. PPI only illustrates the pixel density of a display—not necessarily what the human eye can actually see. Your sight can be affected by a handful of other factors, like distance to the display or optical lens.
PIXELS PER DEGREE (PPD)
Instead, a more efficient way to measure display quality is with PPD—Pixels Per Degree.
PPD translates to the number of pixels per degree in human vision. The higher the number, the nicer quality image you get to enjoy. Here are a comparison of PPD between CINERA and several other headsets:

The company was founded in 2014 by a group of enthusiastic and passionate entrepreneurs who love movies and technology, and is scheduled to launch its first product—a head-mounted personal theater system—in the summer of 2017.

Project Status
All of Cinera’s major features are developed and are in the fine-tuning stage.
We’ve produced about 50 prototype / test units to iron out all the potential challenges in assembly before making out tooling.
We expect to start production of the tooling in September 2017, and mass production in November 2017. We are very confident the Cinera headsets will be shipped and on their way to you by Christmas 2017!

In April 2017 CINERA attended HardwareCon in San Francisco.
There, our team demoed prototype v3 to attendees from every part of the world. CINERA left an extremely strong impression, and we are proud to report that CINERA's design make it very flexible for various sizes of faces and different distances between pupils.
In July 2017, CINERA attended RISE conference exhibition in Hong Kong.
There, our team demoed our latest prototype, v5. We got many “Wow”s when people putting on our headsets. Our booth quickly became one of the most crowded!
(Yes, we got bored and started to make faces when people were experiencing our products, because once they put Cinera on, they didn’t want to take it off! :) )

Risks and challenges
As early as the design stage, many crowdfunding campaigns persuade backers they are legitimate using only words and mock-ups.
However, people are understandably skeptical about promises made by tech and home theater companies. CINERA promises to be more beautiful, more effective, and more enjoyable than ever before, and we understand that this may seem too good to be true.
So, to provide our backers with reassurance that this is the real deal, we delayed our campaign until far into product development. Now, our demo units have even appeared (and impressed!) at various consumer and media events.
We are ready to mass produce, and that’s why we need your help.
All CINERA’s major features are complete. However, we acknowledge that there is risk in going from prototype to mass production. We are doing everything we can to mitigate the risk.
For example, we have already manufactured about 30 full units for demo and evaluation purposes. During this exercise, we critiqued and tested our design from the perspective of quality control and assembly, and we are confident in our decision to move forward.
We need your help acquiring the capital necessary for producing the tooling, which will start immediately after the campaign. We have worked through the timeline and all possible hiccups extensively, and we are very confident that shipment will commence at the end of November or early December.
