MEGA UPDATE!

Wow! So much to talk about, where do we even start!?

First of all, thank you to all of you for keeping your cool and being patient with us while we all went into hermit mode cranking out pages and scripts and colors. We haven't done an official Kickstarter update in a bit, but I'm hoping you've been seeing the steady process/progress posts on both www.facebook/com/drawingbloodcomic and our Instagram @DRAWINGBLOODCOMIC like this gem here! We celebrated the birthday of the great Hayao Miyazaki who of course was the name inspiration for one of Shane and Paul Bookman's famous franchised felines, the RADICALLY REARRANGED RONIN RAGDOLLS!

This book is coming out so darn cool. The process of making it has been especially exciting and interesting for all of us. If you remember from the campaign, I think we had mentioned the chain of creator duties and just how collaborative this book would be... You've got the main DRAWING BLOOD VOL.1 which is of course created by David Avallone and Kevin Eastman, written by David and with myself ( Ben Bishop ) on the bulk of the artwork, but then there are flashback sequences, which are pencilled by me and finished by Kevin, and also dream sequences, which are pencilled by me and finished by Troy Little, and finally colors by Brittany Peer and lettering by Taylor Esposito. ( not to mention RRRR issue 1 is completely laid out by Kevin and finished by Troy ). So you can see what a huge collaboration and team effort this book is, and it really really adds to its uniqueness and strength as a comic about making comics.

Why don't I just shut up and show you some awesome pages?

That's of course only a partially lettered sample sneak preview for you... Which leads me to my next exciting bit of news.

I'm sure you're wondering...

Shane's lawyer Julia Lieber has given us permission to release to all of YOU, our wonderful Kickstarter supporters, the complete 24 page digital first issue ( or chapter ) of DRAWING BLOOD! And you're going to get it this month! January 24th! New comic book day!

Of course creation of the following 3 chapters of Vol.1 are continuing to move forward, we just wanted you all to have something exclusive and special to tide you over until the full physical book release. So, expect another MEGA UPDATE on January 24th with a download link, exclusively for all of you who helped make this book a reality.

It's hard to top that news, but I think we might be able to...

If you remember back to the campaign, there was a huge reward tier that sent us skyrocketing towards the goal, and in one case OVER the goal, and that reward was the ultimate Kevin Eastman VIP experience! Where a couple of fans would get flown out to San Diego to hang with Kevin for a day and get a whole bunch of cool swag. Well 2 of the MEGA backers who chose that reward have recently done just that! First there was FADI, and then a few days later Alberto

I know Kevin had a great time and loved hanging out with these two guys, I only wish David and I could have been there as well! Next time!

Well, that's just about it for today! I told you it was a MEGA UPDATE...

Before I jump off I wanted to take a minute and spotlight a friend of mine, Dylan Andrew's Kickstarter for his book, ARCHIVE THE WARHOOD ODYSSEY. It's something I feel that's important to do within the crowdfunding, self publisher Kickstarter community, to spread the news about good people making good books that everyone should know about!

Check it out! www.warhoododyssey.com

The campaign has already reached it's goal, so the book is being made, which is always a great thing. Volume one, of ARCHIVE THE WARHOOD ODYSSSEY like DRAWING BLOOD, contains 4 issues of the story. Dylan is trying to hit his big stretch goal of $5000 which will allow him to go back through and re-ink a lot of his older work to bring it up to snuff with the final and exclusive issue #4 chapter of the trade paperback. Give it a look, grab one for yourself, or at the very least please help him spread the word.

Creator owned comics are the future!

Ok, now I'm really done, and have to get back to drawing DRAWING BLOOD! Hope you loved all the preview artwork and are as excited for ISSUE #1 on JANUARY 24th as we are! Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Thanks a million everyone.
