In San Francisco last January, LPN wrapped up an 8-year long series of performances entitled “Mapa Corpo” Trilogy with a massive project involving 15 artists. Currently, LPN finds itself at a critical moment in its creative life, as we attempt to secure funds to start our next extended development and performance projects. During these very difficult economic times, in which funding sources are growing less available and increasingly conservative, we need your help to develop and jumpstart our new performance project, Psycho Magic Actions for a World Gone Wrong, for the coming years.
We are seeking funds so that the core members of the troupe: Guillermo Gomez-Peña (Mexico City-San Francisco), Emma Tramposch (New Zealand-San Francisco) Michèle Ceballos Michot (Bogota-Phoenix), Roberto Sifuentes (Los Angeles-Chicago), Erica Mott (Chicago-Wallahala), Dani d’Emilia (Porto Alegre-London/Lisbon), Violeta Luna (Mexico City-San Francisco). can gather in San Francisco and Oaxaca (Mexico) to develop a new performance piece. Psycho Magic Actions for a World Gone Wrong will confront the anti-immigration hysteria in the US and the rampant organized crime violence in Mexico.LPN endeavors to work with artists and various communities across the world through our specialized pedagogy, community building workshop environment, and radical performances. Over the past two years time and time again we have watched our supporters and presenters budgets be slashed by 30 to 50 percent leaving us with less resources to create our work. Additionally funds to work in transnational collaborations seem to be the hardest hit and this is truly at the heart of our work. This is why we are looking to our international cyber community, those of you who we know and those who we hope to know, to invest in the ground level of our new work and to support the core community of La Pocha Nostra.
