ABOUT THE SHOW:
Inspired by cultural moon myths and beliefs from around the world, Moon Show 143 is a theatrical duet combining live and recorded sound, puppetry, and movement. Following the moon on its cyclical journey with Earth, the piece portrays four fateful encounters between humans and the moon to tell a story of connection and inevitability. Rock concert theatrics collide with interstellar imagery to form a new moon myth in this world premiere.
Moon Show 143 will world premiere at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, MN, Sept. 14-18, 2013. The production will then return to Seattle, October 3-6, 2013 to headline the Douglas Paasch Puppet Playhouse Festival. The show will go on to further touring throughout 2014 and 2015.
YOUR DONATION WILL ...:
Your donation will help to cover necessary artist fees, material costs, and shipping costs. This production combines the artistry of a professional performer, director, composer, lighting designer, choreographer, sound designer, scenic fabricator and others. In addition to assisting with paying these professional artists, your donation will cover material costs for the construction of scenic, prop, and puppetry elements, as well as covering shipping costs associated with getting the artists and set to Minneapolis and back to Seattle. This production is already supported by the Jim Henson Foundation and the Seattle-based arts organization, 4Culture.
Thank you for your support!
Risks and challenges
The production will world premiere this month at the Guthrie Theater and will return for a Seattle engagement two weeks later. It's really happening! There are many costs that come with the type of generative performance that we are making, especially when the production is designed to tour. We're bringing an 8' metal cube half-way across the country! This production is larger in scale than any piece I've made before and we need your help to cover all of the larger costs that have come with making larger work.
I have been creating and touring original work since 2008. The passion, time, and commitment my collaborators and I bring to the creation process has only become stronger and we can't wait to share this production with you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
