At TRASENSE we are a design driven wearables company that wants to democratize the daily tracker industry; making beautifully designed devices that are affordable.
Our team has re-imagined how connected devices are designed to play a role in your day-to-day life that work in the background, out of sight and out of mind, all the while processing data to make you smarter.
We have spent the past 36+ months designing wearables of all shapes and sizes for our OEM customers, and in the most recent 12 months testing, prototyping, and perfecting THE MOVEMENT, and we’re almost ready to go.
Development of THE MOVEMENT traces it’s origins back nearly a decade when our founder, Wesimann Lee, began experimenting with cutting edge mobile technologies at GINWAVE in Shenzhen, China.
It has been during the past three years that THE MOVEMENT began to materialize. Working endlessly with distributors around the world we realized that the wearables industry was going in two directions:
We stepped away from our 9-5 business, and began to re-think how connected devices should fit into our lives, help us better understand our habits, and be incredibly affordable.
After an intense 12 months of testing, re-designing, and prototyping we are ready to take THE MOVEMENT to the next level.
This Kickstarter project will take us through the final steps, and take one big leap forward, so we can:
1. Purchase all hardware components in bulk at preferred pricing.
2. Produce the final molds for casing, band, and “bean”.
3. Reserve factory floor time and tooling to produce the special edition TRASENSE MOVEMENT
THE MOVEMENT will be our first product to enter the market.
THE MOVEMENT has been through prototype after prototype, and thanks to our home base in Shenzhen, China (the maker capital of the world) we have been able to rapidly take a sketch to 3D design to CNC to handmade prototypes.
Now we want you to enjoy a very special version of our first device.
Here are some behind-the-scenes photos of our prototyping.
So what is TRASENSE all about?
1. We create wearables that are simple, smart, and affordable.
2. We re-imagine how smart devices will connect, communicate and educate you to make better decisions everyday.
3. We are natural tinkerers exploring the next discovery in connected devices.
1. A lightweight and comfortable bangle that is simple yet elegant in form and function.
2. An incredibly power efficient piece of hardware with a standard seven-day use time.
3. A connected app that provides insights and action-oriented data.
The three major components are a TPSiV bangle, a Polycarbonate casing, and an aluminum bean.
TPSiV was invented by DOW CORNING, a company focused on silicone material development for seven decades, and can be found in everyday devices as well as components that we send to the International Space Station. It’s lightweight, comfortable and resistant to UV discoloring.
The Polycarbonate and Aluminum casing provide a housing that is lightweight, waterproof (5 meters), and still able to efficiently transmit Bluetooth signals to your mobile device.
By combining proprietary algorithm and hardware architecture we have been able to get more from less. Using best in class Bluetooth 4.0 hardware, a handcrafted PCB, and ROHMS accelerometer we have been able to reliably get seven days of use time out of one full charge.
It’s always great to know what you have been doing, and it’s even better to know how you can make small tweaks everyday to make big improvements in your habits and health. The third generation LYTICS app for THE MOVEMENT not only provides the normal data points, but we are “baking-in” data visualization that helps you understand how to stay on track to hit your targets.
For the past 36 months we have been working closely with our suppliers and factories on behalf of our OEM customers, producing tens of thousands of units on each and every order. We have fully mapped out our supply chain, understand production limitations, and hit tight deadlines without issue.
We are absolutely sure a Kickstarter Edition order can be shipping by August 15, 2015. If we should believe that the demand for THE MOVEMENT exceeds are ability to produce for this shipping date, we will open an additional Backer Level to handle a second shipment date. As of the launch of the project, we plan to ship everything according to schedule.
All supporters will be getting a limited edition KICKSTARTER MOVEMENT. Each device will be stamped with KICKSTARTER on the underbody of the casing. A handful of the first backers may even get something special engraved on the aluminum “bean” (a Stretch Goal feature release).
THE MOVEMENT is a unisex hardware design that fits the wrists of all shapes and size. The bangle accommodates most wrist sizes of both men and women.
We are constantly exploring new materials that provide the look, feel, and durability of a product you would expect to pay 5x more for.
Under the hood we are using a combination of a Bluetooth antenna, ROHMS Accelerometer, and a hand crafted PCB that supports the central nervous system of the device. Combining this with our proprietary algorithms, we have built a device that “just works”, and we have done it for a fraction of the cost.
We have designed the bangle from TPSiV, that allows us to get incredible durability, and a lightweight form that when combined with the aluminum and PC “bean” becomes a waterproof housing.
The app that supports THE MOVEMENT has been designed to provide all the data configurations that you have come to expect from wearables like dailys steps, calories burnt, and sleep cycles
With one click toggling you can quickly review how you are doing stacked up to daily and weekly.
And on top of that we are trying to slowing integrate “Action-Oriented” data that gives you a small push to keep you on track to hit your daily targets
Or when you are not hitting your regular targets we let you know, and add a small tip to get you back on track.
We are passionate about designing the future of wearable devices. Devices that are completely passive and fade away into the background of your daily life. We believe these devices need not be huge financial investments, especially since we see wearables as a set of connected devices all collecting various data points that when combined provide us with extraordinary intelligence.
We believe this network of connected devices all begins today with THE MOVEMENT, the anchor device in a series of devices we will be rolling out over the next 18 months. We are building a community with Kickstarter followers to help us develop the future of connected devices, and it is why we have spent the best part of the past twelve months perfecting this device.
With eleven people now on our team, we are an interesting mix of technologists, ID designers, tinkerers, and artists with a flare for everything techie. The core team has been built around a friendship that started while still in university and then grew over the years as Weismann and William grew their professional careers. We truly do enjoy getting up everyday and coming to build what’s next for TRASENSE.
Weismann Lee, Co-founder and CEO, and William Zhang, Director of Software, both graduated from the renowned University of Electronics Science and Technology of China. The equivalent to the tier one engineering universities in the United States and Europe with master degrees in Computer Science. Edward Li has been inventing and hacking ever since he left the Machine & Electronic Institution of Anhui in the late 1980s. LIU is our fixer and has been managing our OEM development since the beginning, and has the knack to fix problems at the prototyping and mass production phases of development.
We want to make connected devices beautiful and affordable, and we want you to come along for the ride.
Risks and challenges
We have the good fortune to be based in Shenzhen, China, the international hub for hardware, from drones to phones to wearables. Being here at the epicenter allows us to stay at the cutting edge of connected device development. Combine that with over three years of making devices for our OEM clients around the globe, we have built up a solid network of suppliers and manufacturers. We are confident that we will be able to hit our shipping targets.
We have done all the major testing and prototype development, and we feel confident with this KICKSTARTER Edition of THE MOVEMENT. Now we need you to help us build the future TRASENSE community.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
