Do your teammates know:
- "10 Slang Terms for Stoned"?
- How about "10 Waxing Styles for 'Down There'"?
- Will your team do better with "10 Alcoholic Shots" or... "10 Rappers Who Got Shot"?
This very adult version of the classic shout-out party game Outburst® has 584 topics and endless replay value.
GREAT NEWS!! We've been working with our factory, and we are confident we will be able to ship this earlier than originally promised. We expect to begin shipping in mid-October (instead of November). Claim your copy now!
Midnight Outburst is:
Midnight Outburst® is a party game for 4 or more players in 2 teams. That means drinking, and laughing, and shouting with friends. We call it “lubrication for rusty social skills.” So if you’ve got rusty skills…STOP PLAYING WITH YOURSELF (there’s a word for that…)
Here's how you play.
Step 1: Select one of two topics based on the headline hint (the Answers are hidden until the card is in the reader).
Step 2: Name as many answers from that topic as you can in 45 seconds.
Step 3: Check off the right answers as you get them.
Step 4: Get all 10 for a perfect score. You dirty thing you.
And that's it! Repeat for continued enjoyment.
Here's what people are saying about Midnight Outburst.
"Midnight Outburst was seriously so much fun to play! I couldn’t believe the categories, they were so creative and funny, and I felt so silly saying weird and dirty things. There were times when I was laughing so hard I started to tear up!" Rachel Amanda Bryant: Cosplay Cooking
"The game is so much fun!!! I really wanted to keep playing it. It was challenging too!! I can only imagine how much more inappropriate things would get with this game after a few drinks. I def wanna play it again when I'm less than sober." Aryiel Hartman: Harry Potter and the Ten Years Later
"I remember playing this game decades ago... but I don't remember it being this fun - or Dirty..." Ivan Van Norman: Host of Game The Game and Producer of TableTop Season 4
Here's what comes inside the Midnight Outburst box:

We’ve got a great menu of Backing Opportunities. Pick your favorite!
**UPDATE** Great News! We’ve been working with the factory, and we have an update on our pledge to you. We have an earlier completion date from the factory, and we are comfortable promising to ship backers their Midnight Outburst games starting in mid-October. We’ll do our best to get them to you before the end of October! (Please Note: International orders may take longer.) That’s No Trick – All Treat!
The story of how we came to Kickstarter is so unique, we just had to share it with you. This is a true story…
When Outburst® first launched in 1984 it had questions about Contraception, Marijuana, Slang, and other material not previously included in any parlor party games. It was bold, and edgy, and naughty. And people loved that.
Except for the father who forgot the box said “AGE: ADULT” and played it with his whole family. Unfortunately, his pre-teen daughter held the card marked ALCOHOLIC SHOT DRINKS and had to ask out loud, “Daddy, what’s a Blow Job?”
Understandably, that didn’t go over well.
Even though we reminded him that the game said in big letters AGE:ADULT we had made a cultural enemy. He got his church group to launch a letter writing campaign to Walmart - the store where he bought the game.
Now Walmart loved the huge Outburst® sales, but they loved their customers more. Walmart returned every single Outburst® game from every store in the country.
Those games got re-shipped, and were sold by Target, and K-Mart and even Toys R Us. But to get back on the Walmart shelves we had to sanitize the game to be sure we wouldn’t offend any of their customers. In that process Outburst® lost 25 or more really naughty/ cutting-edge topics. And while still a great game, for us it had lost its salsa attitude.
And that was when we first started thinking about eventually making Midnight Outburst. This is the game we’ve always wanted to make.
So the planets aligned, and the internet let us reach game players who were cool with edgy and spicy material. And Kickstarter is the perfect place for us to find out if players agree with us, and want to play our very adult game.
Brian Hersch: Brian’s the guy who invented Outburst® and was always pushing the adult game business in the direction of “more adult.” Retailers may have resisted, but he always believed game players would relish his mustard. Midnight Outburst is his. And if it goes too far…he’s the one on the left.
Mary Jo Reutter: Aside from having a wicked sense of humor, MJ has published lots of games and been named the Game Inventor of the Year. MJ was Brian’s chief collaborator and tormentor for the creation of Midnight Outburst®. There is no part of this game MJ didn’t influence, change, and enhance, so if you love it, she gets major credit - and now you know who wrote this section ;)
The Posse: Even though most of this group was either too embarrassed, or too concerned with their reputations to warrant a “writing credit,” we herein provide their names for public scrutiny: Jill, Gillian, Mike, Bryce, Sean, Leah, Devon, Angus, Katherine, Mike, Sophie, Mitchell, Rachel, Oliver, Matt, Justin, Hillary, Syd, Val, Carol, and Marlene.
Thank you so much for taking time to review this project, we're excited to bring our game to your home!
Oh the 90's, how we miss you and your cheesy goodness.
Risks and challenges
With our experience in board games we understand the process and have been able to minimize the risks. Having said that, we all still know that the unanticipated glitch, or production hiccup, or shipment delay, can foul-up the best of plans.
The game design is solid, proven and complete. Content has been under development for quite some time, and is now ready to go. We have bids for production and have met with the factories (parts from China, printing and assembly in USA.) The remaining risks are really about the arrival of components, timing of printing.
We have built in contingency periods we think are realistic. We expect to meet them without issue, and get your games to you on time. Our true goal is to get them to you even earlier than promised…but we want to be realistic and meet our commitment to you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
