About this project
Society has collapsed. Humanity faces extinction. You are the last person alive in your city. But you are not alone.
You have one goal - to survive. Survival by hunting, by foraging, by building, or by fighting, whatever it takes, as long as you make it to dawn alive.
Dusk is a truly open world game that let’s you choose your survival strategy. Immersed in a decaying city (16km^2) you must scavenge for food, resources, and items to complete objectives.
By day, the outdoors is your playground to explore and harvest, but that doesn't mean you're safe. Buildings with dark interiors may still have creatures lurking inside.
By night, you are hunted by cunning creatures who will learn your strategies and attempt to outmanoeuvre you. You can fight back with brute force, build up defences, use parkour to escape, or play with stealth and blend in with the night.
Tame beasts to gain a loyal companion who will protect you and fight for you. The world is roaming with everything from wolves to lions. What you attempt to befriend depends on how courageous you are. Give your pet a name and look after each other. It's an unforgiving world and friends are few and far between.
Craft weapons from scrap and pieces found around the world using a unique crafting system that allows you to hammer and duct tape any combination of items together. Axe head on a baseball bat? No problem. Be careful though - a rusty nail through a hand grip will do you more harm than good!
Make your house a home - choose any location in the city to set up base. Craft furniture and build walls to make your own little piece of paradise. Then surround it with search lights, landmines, and flamethrower sentry guns.
Choose to play as a male or female and customise your character's clothing and appearance by finding items in game. You can also find items for your companion. Pink dress on a lion? Why not!
It is being developed by an experienced group of developers from fields including 3D art, 2D art, animation, programming, management, and composers with many years of development and expertise in the Unity game engine and modern development software.
Dusk will be releasing on Windows, Mac, and Linux with a potential release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 given sufficient funding.
All programming will be done in-house with the lead programmer having over 6 years of programming experience. No salary will be taken, just enough to cover living costs, allowing more money to be invested in the art and sound of the game.

Need a helping hand with the apocalypse? Then this kit probably isn't for you. But it will help you get through epic gaming marathons without needing to waste time on menial jobs such as cooking. Not only are these exclusive food items delicious, they are also identical replicas of those found in the game.

The Kickstarter goal is the minimum amount of cash required to develop the core game experience. Every pound earned beyond this will be used to expand the scope of the game. We’re talking bigger environments, more weapons, more enemies, and more game time. We're also including extra bonuses for every additional £10,000 raised.

Risks and challenges
Developing a video game (and software engineering in general) can often stumble with poor management, leading to budget wastage and productions delays. Having already managed several large teams to produce two other successful video games, we have integrated a robust system to keep development on track and within budget, and will ensure it is adhered to throughout the development of Dusk.
Dusk will be developed using Unity, a well established and powerful game engine. With over 4 years of experience using Unity myself and the other team members being seasoned veterans, we know how to make the game engine do what it needs to do and quickly solve any problems we face.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
