What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Proof of Concept

Explorations that test ideas and functionality.

Functional Prototype

Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.

Appearance Prototype

Looks like the final product, but is not functional.

Design Prototype

Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Production Prototype

Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

About this project

Our first Tower was 14' - too short for the record
Our first Tower was 14' - too short for the record

Our toy got it's start on Kickstarter back in 2012 - now we want to come roaring back with a cool STEM Project that you can be a part of. You will be backing a part of the tower that sets the Guinness World Record and after that is done, we will ship your pieces of the tower directly to you.

Pledgers will be sending a message to the elementary school kids. The fundraising goal shows the kids that YOU care about their education and efforts. The kids from a local STEM Academy will be helpers. We might build this tower in their gymnasium. We will keep you posted with updates!

What could be more fun? We need 5,000 pieces to be allocated to this project - 60 pledges which is our fundraising goal.

This is our application to the World Record Title currently held by Lincoln Logs.

Risks and challenges

This project has nearly zero risk. We have the inventory and we have a terrific 6th grade STEM Academy class full of students who will help provide the physical labor of building this monster tower. We also have an auditorium where it won't snow or rain. A "cherry picker" for lifting those pieces for the top. What we want is to involve many backers who will be the encouragement that the kids will love. They will know that YOU CARE about this toy, the kids and the idea to prove a challenge.

We have tested the toy to a height of 14' which ran into the ceiling and that gave us the idea to do a public assembly that would be in the Guinness Book of World Records. You will help make this happen and you will own a part of the tower afterward. Also get your kids excited about this STEM project by being a part of this effort at a distance.

Currently Lincoln Logs holds a world record for interlocking construction toy parts in a unsupported structure. Free standing. The tallest structure of Lincoln Logs was 3.77 m (12 ft 4 in) tall and was constructed by the city of Lincoln (USA) in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA, on 13 April 2013.
