Eden, the Graphic Novel
I'm looking to finish a graphic novel based upon the post-apocalyptic novel, Eden. A great deal of work has already been completed!
Hi there! My name is Matthew C. Plourde and I'm a storyteller. My traditional novel, Eden, has been available for a few years now. When I wrote the novel, I envisioned a graphic novel at the same time. This kickstarter is aimed to finish that project.
I started down the path of the graphic novel shortly after the book was published. Unfortunately, the first few artists I worked with were less than reliable.
In any case, I should have used ELance or a similar service. Live and learn!
Today, I do have an artist committed to finishing the project. He has completed about half the pages thus far, and we have sketches coming in on the last half every week. I only need your help to finish the project!
Without all the false starts, I would have been able to fund this on my own. However, life rarely operates in a straight line, so here we are.
What is Eden?
Eden is a post-apocalyptic tale set in the near future. It combines a modern take on the "hero's journey" along with religious tones (no preaching, I'm agnostic), redemption, betrayal, survival and a healthy dose of "what if."
Here's the blurb from the back of the novel:
"... the last days are not unfolding exactly as written, but make no mistake - Heaven and Hell have fallen to Earth."
When an earthquake plunges the world into darkness, Alexandra Contreras struggles for survival and seeks answers. Guided by a mysterious, scarred man, she braves the wasteland in search of humanity's mythical birthplace: Eden. Once confronted with her tragic destiny, she must make a decision which will alter the fate of the world.
From the photo shoot we did for the novel:
The finished graphic novel will be at least 100 pages long. Each page will be FULL color. The binding will be paperback and hopefully we can have a hard cover option too.

$6000: I will host (and cater) a graphic novel signing event in the CT or NY area, very soon after publication. Invites will go out to each and every backer. I'll even try my best to book Mad Agnes, my favorite folk band.
... more to come.
Risks and challenges
Being a cancer survivor, I don't accept defeat. So, even though this project has been going on for a few years now, I'm committed to seeing it through. We're on the home stretch!
Feel free to read more about me, as I was featured by the American Cancer Society in their "Stories of Hope" series. Link is here:Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
