Updated Production Timeline
Today, a detailed update on the production of Solarius Mission and the new timeline. This is a bit lengthy, so grab a beverage, sit back, and enjoy.
Updated Fulfillment Timeline
So, as we alluded to in our last update, and as we mentioned in our blog post on our website (which, if you haven't seen it, head there now. We'll wait for you), this has been a time of learning for all of us here at Flying Lemur Game Studio. Even though we have been in the game business for some time now, we still made an error in calculations regarding the time it would take to get all the components and materials for Solarius Mission together.
We did not take into account the time it would take to do further play testing of the variants (which MiKe & ode. did a lot of play testing as they wrote the rules, but then we went in to test them ourselves because - well, to be perfectly honest, we were nosy and wanted to try them). We didn't think it would take so long to go over the rules and modify them so little things that needed tweaking were tweaked properly. And we didn't think it would take as long to get the new graphics laid out so that, when sent to the manufacturer, they would come out perfect the first time.
Because of this, we will not be meeting the January fulfillment we had stated in the campaign. We humbly apologize for this, but we also know that, with this extra time taken to bring everything together, you're going to get one fantastic product!
Here's the schedule we are currently working with:
What We Are Working On
The biggest challenge was working the rulebook so we could fit the variants in. At this point, it has expanded from 20 pages with the covers to 28 pages. A few graphics still need to be added to the layout, and the translations are due to be completed by the end of this month.
There are, as you know, extra components for the Variants - cards, player boards, board extensions, planets - that need to be finished up and pre-checked to make sure they work with the existing artwork. And we have been tweaking the player boards so all the indents work exactly how we said they would.
Ships and Player Pieces
We should see some samples of those within the next 10 business days. As soon as we have them, we'll share them with you.
So, at this stage, we are about 4 months behind. But we know you'll be happy with the game once you get it. And, as we receive the full prototype from the manufacturer, we'll be sharing images of it with you.
