Haus Von Haute NY Storefront and Expansion
Haus Von Haute is an online retailer which needs help opening a storefront to bring the fashions and design/style consultations to life
I am the owner of an online fashion retail company based out of New York. Along with selling specially selected women's clothing and accessories, I also design and style clothes for women. I need a space to do all of this! I need a storefront so I can interact with my clientele on a personal and intimate level. Boutiques are supposed to have that intimate feel where the clients feel as though they are the priority of the business. It is difficult to achieve this level of intimacy through the world wide web. We interact with clients through e-mail and social media, but I cannot meet a client and do fittings through these means.
I am looking to open a storefront by the summer on Long Island, NY. The space needs to be big enough to accommodate retail space plus a small studio where I can meet with clients to do fittings, create and design garments, and do style assessments.
Also, Haus Von Haute will be holding its first fashion event this summer, 2016. At the event we will be raising money for inventory and other incidentals of the business, plus a portion of those proceeds will go to charity.
Risks and challenges
I have looked into other ways to cover costs of leasing a storefront, but none have panned out. I dipped into my and my husband's savings to get a limited amount of inventory on the e-commerce store, but it has not been enough to fully stock the store.
I have also gone to multiple small business lenders seeking loans. Even though this country was built on small businesses, it seems as though banks do not want to help a start-up. You must be an established business in order to get any sort of loan. I was offered lines of credit, but seeing as to how I've already begun using some of my other business and personal credit cards to fund inventory, I cannot take on any other credit cards. Plus, I cannot pay rent with a credit card.
Crowdfunding seems to be the way to go, and I feel it is the best means to achieve what I want. This gives my clientele a look inside how this company will grow and how it will benefit them.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
