Lets all share our digital world!
For many, the digital world (or just turning on a computer) can be a daunting prospect; but imagine what it's like for those with a visual impairment.
I understand what that feels like, having a visual impairment of my own! I set up Insite to build accessible digital products that allow everyone to engage in our digital world equally.… regardless of ability.
It's been a constant yet rewarding struggle to build my business but I am committed to improving digital accessibility. Now I need YOUR help.
Hi, I'm Shaun!

I'm a freelance, visually impaired web developer.
I was born with a rare condition that meant I had cataracts on both my eyes.
I didn't know it then but my life was never going to be easy.
It has stopped me from being able to drive and I have had to learn strategies to cope with daily living tasks; but I've never let it beat me.
I don't want disabilities to beat other people either.

What is Insite?
Insite is my personal journey - my life challenge.
It's myself and some talented friends and colleagues. We will help third sector organisations build disability-friendly products and websites as well as software.
We also work with mainstream companies to spread the word about accessible design and optimise their own products. I learnt how to code and build accessible websites and now I want to work with companies to educate them about the importance of building accessible websites.
This will benefit people with visual impairment (VI) and other disabilities when using the digital space.
How can YOU help?
I need to raise £2500, which when added to my own funds will buy bespoke computer hardware; items that will make me more productive and therefore make digital accessibility in the third sector a reality for many.
The kit I need includes a specialist screen, computer and accessories designed specifically for those with visual impairment. It also includes software that will help me get the most from the hardware and work efficiently to create powerful solutions for the third sector.
I have cut out all other unnecessary expenditure from my life and worked tirelessly to build a business that pays its own way. Your contribution will go directly towards things that will make all the difference; not business overheads.
I will use my experience, specialist knowledge and intelligent design to combine beauty with accessibility:" a beautiful web should also be accessible."
What are the issues?

What will we do?

I'll work with a small team of talented coders, designers and do'ers to create inspired products that enrich the digital lives of those with disabilities, so that they can engage in a part of our world that most people take for granted.
Intuitive layouts, great UX, cross platform responsive design. These will be our watchwords.

A Real Life Story

Other Ways You Can Help
If you like our project but can't contribute, please consider sharing it using the share buttons under the video with your friends and family. This will help us to spread the word and make a difference!
Stretch Goals
If your generosity exceeds the £2500 figure we have a number of exciting stretch goals to push towards.
These include bringing other talented people on board to help us work on a number of projects. These include:

Rewards
We hope that you can see what a brilliant project this is; but we don't expect you to just give us your money for nothing! We have designed a couple of special limited edition products that we will send winging their way to you with our thanks.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Risks and challenges
It has taken months of planning, design and development to get to the point of launching our kickstarter campaign. We have invested our own money and time because we believe in it – we hope you can share that belief.
All of our rewards are tokens of our appreciation for your support and have been designed in house. They are costed, we have manufacturers in place, all barring final touches and tweaks (which we will work through with our manufacturing partners when we reach our funding goal).
This should take approximately 3 weeks from funding. We will then produce, pack and ship your rewards.
You will be kept informed every step of the way.
*Please note* people paying in US Dollars are not having to pay more for a reward than those paying in British Pounds.
These are equivalent amounts (£1 is equal to about £1.60 depending on the exchange rate at the time and vice versa)!
£1 = $1.60
£5 = $8
£10 = $16
£25 = $40
£50 = $80
£85 = $135
£100 = $160
£150 = $239
£200 = $320
£250 = $399
£500 = $799
£650 = $1038
£1,000 = $1,600
£2,000 = $3,196
