The Nikki Jean Cookie Company makes wherever you are, somewhere delicious.
UPDATE: Thanks for everyone who has been supporting the campaign! We have a special treat for you. We were bored and decided to reinvent the Christmas Song. Here ya go!!
I never really gave cookies a second thought. Like many of you, I grew up on Chocolate chip cookies with the recipe from the back of the bag. They were good. It never occurred to me that they could be great. That is, until I was a struggling artist a thousand miles from family and desperate for something from home. I found comfort in baking, but it wasn’t necessarily delicious.
Many people have suggested I start a bakery, or cookie company. I did for a little while, when Columbia Records declined to put my record out (read as “dropped me”) I started an impromptu version of the cookie company to pay the rent. It worked. Music is my first love. When I FINALLY put out my first album and people were asking more about cookies than music, the cookie biz went on hiatus indefinitely.
This is my season. I love the holidays. I’m one of those people that “love with food.” I hear that’s common among Midwestern girls. In the past we’ve had parties filled with dozens of different kinds of cookies I bake myself, I’ve dubbed them Cookie Socials. They have a DJ, live performances, drink pairings, and of course COOKIES!
This year I’d like to do it again, a Holiday Cookie Social in Philadelphia. The money we’re raising will be used to fund the cost of the cookie social (venue, flour, etc.), my friends are performing free of charge. So come if you can, invest if you’re able. It will be a good time, with great people and even better cookies.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Having thrown several cookie socials with no problems in the past, I guess the biggest risk is exhaustion. It's a pretty straight forward operation.. The challenge WOULD be sustaining the operation indefinitely. . a bridge we'll hopefully cross in the future.
