Have you ever been to a new city and don't know where to start looking around, or if a photographer, where to take the best shots? Helping find those great locations is the idea behind my new ebook: Scenic Seattle: the Best Spots, Best Shots, and Best Guide to the Photography You Want.
This guide will lead you to the most scenic locations in one of the most scenic cities in the United States. The book will present over 80 places to take great photographs of Seattle, or for non-photographers, scenic places to hang out. I'll tell you where to get the shot, give photo tips on how to get the shot, and show examples of images that can be captured at these locations. The book will have approximately 50 photographs, like the examples shown here. The book even discusses any restrictions to photography at each location (such as no tripods allowed, etc.)
I cover Seattle Center, the downtown area, the waterfront, the University of Washington, West Seattle, South Lake Union, the International District and much more. I give directions to the best viewpoints and most scenic parks.
Where does Kickstarter come in? I've been working on capturing the photos for this book almost a year now, and the text is nearly all written. What I really need help with is getting the ebook formatted and published. I'm a pretty good photographer, but I've never done an ebook before and would like some professional help with formatting into the many ebook formats, as well as help with other production costs.
I've got some great rewards for backers of the project, from copies of the ebook, to fine-art prints of images in the book, to personalized photo tours of Seattle. I hope you will consider helping me on this project.
I'd like to give a shout out to my partner Tanya with help shooting the video and Jim Hay for editing the video. Thanks!
Risks and challenges
As the text is written and all but a handful of the photos are already taken, there is not a lot of risks to completing the project or meeting my anticipated schedule of getting the book distributed by May. After getting funding for the formatting and production of the ebook, it will be a simple matter to get it completed. The service I'm planning on using will assist with getting the ebook listed on Amazon and through Smashwords, so distribution should be simple to complete. I don't anticipate any setbacks.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
