Virtue Limited 1st edition print

YOU should be happier, healthier, more productive, more enthusiastic, more disciplined, and full of love for yourself and the beautiful community of people you find yourself immersed in every day.

Don’t ignore Love.

Help others and allow others to help you.

Work hard and give the fruit of that work to someone that can’t or doesn’t.

Know your faults and embrace your strengths.

Forgive unconditionally and be vulnerable.

Feed your mind and spirit well, and treat your body like a temple.

Smile at strangers.

Now let's put that into a game!

Virtue is a cooperative game for 2 to 4 players that pits your team against the spiritual forces of good and evil. You will strive to live a good life while balancing your life pursuits (community, education, personal identity, marriage, hope, faith, and love.) You will quest for internal tranquility and life-long peace. You will struggle with existential conflict as your angels and demons battle to shape your soul and define your character. You are in this together so if one falls, you all fall.

Feel free to watch our short video to get an overview of the game play but here is a quick synopsis:

Here's the board. There are two separate boards depending on the number of players (a 2 player board and a 3-4 player board). Each player has a soul pyramid, a tranquility track, an existential conflict track, a life force track, and a life pursuits track. There are also shared vice and virtue pyramids and a physical age track to denote the rounds of play:

Each player controls a pawn and will play through the decades of their physical life from birth to death in 3 phases per decade:

1. Action phase: each player will spend their limited life force to move to different areas of their souls, cleanse or transmit demons, move angels to prepare for spiritual battle, enhance life pursuits to gain special abilities, increase their tranquility, and focus on blocking certain vices or enhancing certain virtues for one another.

2. Draw phase: players will draw cards which will determine which swarms of demons or angels come to join their spiritual battle. There are also unique cards which grant single-shot abilities.

3. Spiritual Warfare phase: Players will receive existential conflict where they have uncontested vices and their angels and demons will battle for their souls.

The game resolves when all players have survived to the end of their physical lives. All players win if all victory conditions are met (more angels than demons on each players' soul, each player has reached the end of their life pursuits track, players have not lost due to rampant existential conflict, and in the mission variant (harder) each player has completed at least one of the assigned missions in their lives).

The game-play is wrought with rich tension and collaboration which is incredibly rewarding. There are also multiple variants and difficulty settings to meet you where you are as a beginning, intermediate, or advanced player.

APIDAE Prototype

This game is still very much in development but it is to the point in the process where play-testing is key. This will likely be one of the next games we release and we need play-testers! If you think you have what it takes and are interested in taking part in the development process of a board game, choose the backing that will also include an exclusive prototype of APIDAE and give you the option to be featured in the credits as part of the play-test team.

Apidae is a game about the magical and vivacious world of bumblebees. Each player will take control of a queen bee and play through the seasons as they collect pollen and nectar, build their hive, lay larva, mature larva to create more worker bees, and score points based on the flower hexes they buy and incorporate into their hive. Each hive is unique with special upgradable abilities and there will also be a variant of the game that gives each player control of a unique species of bumblebee with additional asymmetric abilities including nectar carrying capacity, larva maturation costs, and much more.

Risks and challenges

The main risk is in the production process and shipping timeline. we have used this manufacturer to order multiple prototypes and they are very reliable. That said, single line print projects like this do fall into a queue which may add or subtract 2-3 weeks in the manufacturing process.
