About this project
Life in the Arts is the first publication of a series of books to be produced highlighting a different artist each year with a book launch at an annual art show and luncheon held at the Union League in Philadelphia, PA. For the 2014 year, the event is scheduled for Saturday, October 18th. By collaborating with Dressler Smith, Artist/Colorist/Educator, our organization will showcase her work as well as new student artists invited from area higher education institutions during a silent auction exhibit, dance performance and luncheon co-sponsored by community members and area organizations.
Our Kickstarter supporters are able to receive an original pastel painting from Dressler Smith's work, in addition to an autographed copy of a *Limited Edition* Life in the Arts - Dressler Smith book, a 11 x 17 print, tickets to the book launch luncheon, or an artist-designed T-shirt.
Publication of Ms. Smith's life story in a highly marketable book with color prints of her work is our happy objective, to educate and inspire students and the broader community. Since we have successfully published other books, we are confident that our past experiences will assist our efforts to achieve marketing success with this initiative. We are considering several publishing houses for a book publishing agreement for best marketing outcomes and book placement on the shelves of major retailers. Additionally, we plan events in various cities with a book tour of Life in the Arts - Dressler Smith.
By seeking cooperation with those in the media and our sponsor networks, which include La Salle University, Neumann University, and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office for Life and Family as well as art world publications, we will be able to provide a unique opportunity for phenomenal exposure and book launch through Kickstarter donations. Celebrate Life in the Arts - Dressler Smith with us by being among our Kickstarter supporters!
Risks and challenges
The risks associated with this publication may be a delay in the book publication date due to protracted efforts and collaboration with an established well-known contract publisher. We are confident even if this occurs to be able to self-publish, and continue to seek agent representation with a large publishing house.
The book launch and luncheon will feature Dressler Smith as keynote speaker, a dance performance by IMAGINE...the Dance Theater of Camden, and Michael D. Hogue, Cathedral Basilica Tenor to garner the largest audience possible. Strategic marketing via press releases, social media, and traditional marketing efforts are scheduled. Through our.sponsor assurances and business contacts in the area, personalized invitations to our extensive mailing lists, and word-of-mouth contacts, we expect to achieve a very high turnout for the new book launch, Life in the Arts - Dressler Smith.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
