Hello friends! It’s true, I am in the process of making my 3rd album, and we’re shooting for releasing it in the Spring. I’ve been hard at work on the album for a while now, writing, recording, playing, innovating and collaborating. It’s going to be a good one. And we've only got 60 days to raise the funds!
With Rob Seidenberg (formerly of Mammoth Records) and Tim Bennett co-producing, I’ve been spending a ton of time in Chicago and Austin (my home) cutting these tracks. And in the process I’ve brought in some incredible musicians from both cities. It’s paying off, and we’ve come a long way but there’s still a lot to be done. I made a conscious decision that I wasn’t going to settle for a second-rate product just because I didn’t have proper funding.
My fund-raising goal is $10,000.
If I am able to raise this in 60 days, we’ll be able to finish the album and make it sound the way it should. With Kickstarter, it’s all or nothing, so we have to meet the minimum goal of $10,000 in order to receive any of YOUR generous contributions. Kickstarter is a fan–funded, word-of-mouth platform. So tell a friend and help spread the good word!
With adequate funding, I’ll be able to pay for expenses like:
What you’ll get: You can pledge as little as a dollar, and you can pledge as much as you like. There’s a range of rewards (see column on right for details); everything from a pre-release download of the CD to a concert at your house.
A few of the many talented people who are playing on this album include: Tim and Jason Bennett, Billy Crompton, Rob Seidenberg, Amanda Shires, Jared Hall, Will Taylor, (Tony Scalzo, Joey Shuffield and Cory Glaeser of Fastball), Matt Winegardener, Kris Nelson, Will Sexton, Andre Moran, Sally Allen, Julia Klee, and many more.
Being an independent artist is a blessing and I couldn’t do it without your help. Any amount you can give, no matter how small, will help us bring this album to life. Thanks so much for helping me and my team make it happen!
Risks and challenges
With making an album a lot is involved, so the main risk is not getting the album done by the target date (March). But luckily, we've already recorded and done most of the mixing of 7 songs, which are strong on their own. Getting the rest of the songs recorded, mixed and mastered is well within our power. We have a graphic designer lined up to do our CD art, poster and T-shirts as well.
The team we have set up will be critical in getting the rewards in all the backer's hands in time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
