About this project
YOUR FRONT ROW SEAT WITH SOME GUITAR GREATS!!
I've been a huge fan of the guitar ever since I got my first one when I was 8 years old and I'm fortunate in my career that I've been able to combine my love of music and film to create documentary films that call on both of these passions.
I hope you are able to help support what I believe to be a very fun and interesting look into the making of a very exciting album; ARLEN ROTH'S "SLIDE GUITAR SUMMIT." I met Arlen over a year ago and right away he started telling me about his idea for his next record and I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of it. The prospect of getting to sit a mere inches away from the likes of Arlen and his lineup of guests that include Sonny Landreth, Johnny Winter, David Lindley, Rick Vito, Cindy Cashdollar, Lee Roy Parnell, Greg Martin, and Jimmy Vivino was just too much to pass up so I jumped at the chance and started filming. I also quickly realized that an integral part of this film should be the history of slide guitar, so I'm hoping to add that in as well.
There have been recording sessions in CT, NY, and Nashville with some very dedicated and talented crew members who have donated their time and energy to make sure we have captured amazing footage that can eventually be edited into the film that I want to make but there is still much more to get. I need to film several interviews, gather some b-roll, and spend some time finding and clearing some archival photographs of legendary slide guitar players. Not to mention that once I finish the editing process there will be final color-correction and sound mixing that will need to be done to make the film look and sound even better. My goal is to raise the money needed by the middle of this Fall and have a finished film by the middle of February 2014. This film will not only have scenes of great guitar playing but I hope to include some perspective on the slide guitar in terms of it's origins and lineage and how it's morphed into the multitude of styles that currently exist.
If you love the guitar as much as I do and you appreciate these amazing players on this record then please consider supporting this project and helping me to bring it to life.
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Risks and challenges
As with any creative project there are bound to be obstacles and set-backs. For an Independent filmmaker that's part of the process but you try to plan for them and figure out how best to solve the issues as they arise.
I think the biggest challenge that I will face but that will probably the most fun will be researching all of the material out there on slide guitar and choosing the best stuff to keep and what may have to be left on the cutting room floor.
I have almost 10 years of experience as an editor and I can't wait to take on the challenge and excitement of putting this film together.
