Corben Wallace must uncover the secrets of a long-forgotten past in order to secure a future for humanity. All the while, a cold war is quickly heating up around him.
History of the Project:
Pandeia is a comic series which explores a world without our familiar moon: what might our future be like if it was ever taken away from us? Many cultures owe their rituals, customs and stories to the existance of the moon. I thought it would be interesting to invent a world populated by civilisations who have emerged under a very different sky.
The story is set against the backdrop of an emerging civil war between three powerful city-states: Al-Kmer, Theia, and Tsuki-Yama. They are all vying to occupy a mysterious desert which is the source of great geothermal power.
When Corben discovers a book that his father stole from the Theian Order, he mounts an expedition. He enlists his best friend Tholemo and his daughter Minauld, steals a Sandboat from the war museum, and illegally enters the desert in search of the Temple of Thanatos.
They are soon ambushed by traders. As Tholemo guides the sandboat into shifting ravines, Minauld attempts to thwart the traders and get her crew out of a tight spot.
After a fight with the Sarai operator, she discovers that a Menoid (that's a piece of moon debris from the orbiting ring) is headed towards the Cadians, but the operator escapes in her pod, leaving her stranded.
She encounters Shooter and Ragtag: a brother and sister duo with a serious grudge. She convinces Shooter to help her gather hard evidence of the Menoid's ETA and take her in search of her crew.
In the meantime, Marcus Blair crash-lands a prototype vent-detecting truck and is captured by traders. David Winfield and Sal Wedge are sent to retrieve Marcus and the vehicle, but Sal soon leaves Winfield stranded to pursue an agenda of his own.
Aziz - an informations dealer - makes a bargain with Marcus to help him track down Sal, who turns out to be one of his former spies.
Nothing is as it seems in the Cadian desert, and Book I kicks off what is sure to be an epic saga!
Why I'm raising money:
I've spent the last three years working on this story as a labour of love. It began as an experiment, but soon I managed to craft the overarching saga, figure out where I wanted the characters to go, and how much of this world I needed to create. During this time, I've also learned about the marketing process. One of my goals is to get this story out to comic stores. The amount I am asking should cover the costs for a 250+ Unit print run and the purchase of a book of 10x ISBNs.
I have already booked a series of national conventions (these are self-funded) where I will be appearing and should this campaign be successful, I should have more than enough to send to book stores, sell at conventions and via my personal website.
My first stretch goal is to raise $6000 to get a 500+ unit print run. This will be a lot cheaper per unit, because of the economies of scale, and will mean I can afford to get this book on store shelves and libraries nationwide.
If by some amazing luck I get to $10K I'll be approaching stores in selected countries to see how I can go about getting copies in a store near you!
Why you should back this campaign:
I've attempted to be creative with the rewards here, and kept the costs as low as possible, so while your pledge helps me achieve my goal, you also get a bargain in the process!
Take a look at some of the things you can get for your support:

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk is that this campaign does not reach its $4000AUD goal. I'm an Aussie creator is a small pond, attempting to reach a worldwide audience for a genre which is already buzzing with activity.
My dream is to get this onto store shelves - that's where most people buy books still, and it takes capital to get the books there. It's also a small earner, so the return takes time to recoup. Getting it to digital avenues is much easier, but seeing it in stores increases the title's visibility.
Depending on how this campaign goes, I'm using the 30 days to spellcheck, colour-check, and collate all the completed pages of the book so it will be print-ready. I have a local printer who will be able to get a large print order turned around quickly as soon as funds have been received.
I've pulled out all stops, and mobilised my network of minions to let me on their podcasts, radio shows, blogs and so forth to spread the word as far as possible. But above all, if you like the project, or think you'd like to see this in a store near you, all you gotta do is share this on your social media pages.
I've set the dates for receiving your rewards at a couple of months from the completion of the campaign for safety. Dispatching all the merchandise will probably happen MUCH sooner - but no promises. There may be some extra posters that will be finished in time to give away, and might get introduced in some existing pledge tiers.
Worst of all: I am one guy who's going to need to do a bunch of commissions, package everything, and get everything mailed!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
