ABOUT THE PROJECT
Friends, music lovers, overall patrons of the arts: I’d like to invite you to join me in making my second post-Idol album. I’ve spent the last several months collaborating with some incredible songwriters in Nashville, and I’m so excited for the chance to share this music with you. Now, for the next 60 days, you have the opportunity to bring this album to life.
Putting together an album takes a lot of time and money, and if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that I need your help to make this album the best it can be. I know that your hard-earned money is important to you. That is why I have prepared a set of rewards for you in return for your generous patronage—from a vote to choose the album title, to a personal phone call from me, an original song written for you, your name in the album credits, and so much more..Every pledge matters, no matter how big or small, so be sure to take a look at all the rewards listed along the right side of this web page.
I would be so incredibly grateful if you would join me on this musical journey.I wouldn’t have made it this far in my career without the support and encouragement of others, and I have no doubt that together we can make a great album.
My heartfelt thanks in advance,
In 2009 I had the incredible opportunity to compete on American Idol.I made it to the top 10 and have since been blessed with a full-time career as a singer-songwriter, inspirational speaker, and author.I’ve had the honor of performing for audiences all over the world, as well as with some very talented musicians including Alice Cooper, Michael W. Smith, and the Jonas Brothers.
Even though I’ve been blind since birth, I’ve never let that hold me back in life.I have always strived to reach my dreams and accomplish my goals despite any obstacle, and I’ve been blessed with so many opportunities to inspire others through music. My last album, “Heartstrings,” debuted at #18 on the iTunes Pop Album chart, and with your help, I hope this new album will be an even bigger inspiration to everyone who hears it.
I am incredibly grateful to everyone who helps make this new album possible, and I really appreciate you taking time to visit my Kickstarter page.
$1,500 - $3,000 per song
The first step in recording an album is getting into a studio with a producer and recording all the instruments and vocals for the album. This part of the process is referred to as “tracking” and is one of the most important in creating the sound of an album. Paying a producer, other musicians, and paying for studio time are the most common expenses during this phase, and the more money that is available, the more talented producers, musicians, and guest artists we can work with.
- $1,500 per song
Mixing is where the recorded tracks of each instrument and vocal part of a song are sonically refined so that they meld together properly. The music is balanced and enhanced in every sense, so whether the song is heard on an iPhone, a car radio, or in a movie theater, it always sounds great.Different mixing engineers have different prices depending on their reputation and the skills they bring to the table.
$100 - $500 per song
The final stage of audio production is called mastering. You can think of mastering as the final touches put on the audio of an album as a whole. In this phase, the focus is making sure songs flow from one to the next and that the overall loudness of an album is more or less the same from beginning to end.Again, prices can vary depending on which mastering engineer we want to work with.
Design: $1,000 - $3,000
Once the album has been tracked, mixed, and mastered, it’s time to work on how it looks visually.A photographer, stylists, and a graphic artist are all important to make sure the album looks as good as it sounds.
The months leading up to and following the release of a new album are crucial to the album’s success.Initial awareness of the album has to be created within a short time frame through publicity campaigns and radio promotions. This type of marketing can be very costly, but the more time and money spent on working with established publicists and promoters, the better chance the album has to reach a wide audience.
