After 12 years of struggle, Seth Camm along with filmmaker Frank Weiss are bringing humanity back to the face of homelessness.

As America finds itself falling deeper into the grip of the recession, the more the face of the homeless change. These days, most people are only a handful of missed paychecks away from homeless status. For years, the homeless population has cried out for a voice to speak for them. I, along with Frank Weiss, hope to be that voice.

For the past 12 years, I have dedicated myself and much of my career to painting America's homeless population and documenting their stories. It has been a long road with a lot of hard work. I have put my heart and soul into this project and have made many sacrifices along the way. My desire is to make sure that the people of the streets are no longer ignored or forgotten and that their stories are told. If we do not deal with this problem immediately, the neglect and abandonment will continue into the next generation to be faced by our children.

This is the story of the homeless. It is time to tell it to the world.

Thanks to a generous grant from The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, in October my Homeless Project will be exhibited at The Noyes Museum of Art of Richard Stockton College in Oceanville, New Jersey. This exhibit will be used as a fundraiser for the Atlantic City Rescue Mission. With generous donations from corporate sponsors like Gamblin Paint and Ampersand Art Boards, I have achieved a huge milestone. And now, I ask you to join the prestigious ranks of these patrons, and help push this project into its final conclusion.

Whether or not the Kickstarter goal is achieved, this project WILL go forward.  It is just a matter of how many people we can connect to and show everyone the true face of the homeless. Your help can bolster my ability to see this project to full fruition.

Before I can exhibit my work in October, I must finish the last phase of the Homeless Project. Beginning in late July, I am going to spend three months living with the homeless at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission and the Haven of Hope in San Antonio. Here, I will complete several paintings and make a documentary film with Frank Weiss. During these 3 months I will, of course, be unable to take commissions. Therefore, I will have no income. Even with the art supplies that have already been donated, I will need additional materials to work. Furthermore, Frank will be dedicating countless hours to film the homeless and document their stories, so that his message will be effectively delivered to the viewing public. Our hope is that both his film and my work will touch those that have been unaware of the plight of the homeless.

On October 5th The Noyes Museum of Art of Richard Stockton College in Oceanville, NJ will present a retrospective of my homeless project. It is an important, historical exhibit, and this is your opportunity to be a part of it.

This exhibit is part of my life's work...a milestone come true...and you can join me in the art. I am asking for your generosity, relying on your compassion, and counting on your donation. Thank you so much.

~ Atlantic City Rescue Mission is honored to be the host site for the kickoff of Seth’s ambitious project. When he shared with us his desire to tell the human drama of homelessness through canvas, paint and multimedia, one could sense the immediate impact his art has in connecting people to an emotional truth. Then he shared a desire to capture the struggles facing the very people and institutions trying to help. That’s why we were excited to become part of a movement to support this work.

Charities and volunteers like ours are not only engaged in a struggle for the heart and soul of people that have fallen out in life, but also winning the hearts and minds of the communities we serve. Seth’s efforts dramatically capture the economic fallout occuring during the past last 3-years, which continues to displace more people after becoming ineligible from government assistance programs. The result has left charities, churches and people of good-will as the last line of defense. But as lawmakers attempt to balance the needs of a community with the growing needs of the impoverished it’s very easy to adopt policies like “Zero Tolerance for the Homeless” in Atlantic City or like other cities across the country currently passing laws that make it illegal to feed a homeless person in public – a trend of apathy is growing.

Yet we believe there is real recovery, and there is always hope.

Seth’s project “Finding Home” is a heart-felt exposé on how we as a nation must balance our individual and community needs as a society as much as it shares the individual struggles of the lost seeking to reclaim their souls. It’s a struggle replicated throughout all walks of humanity and we are privileged to help Seth tell these stories. Because ultimately it’s about reconciliation within ourselves and with all God’s creation. We hope you will continue the movement and help Seth spread this message of inequity and hope in other states and your community as it attempts to connect everyone to the very real needs of the needy in their own backyard. Thanks Seth for making our Mission yours!

Please support his project!
