Artists have sketchbooks and I wanted to do something similar as a writer. So, I put together a sampling of my writing all packaged in a nifty little zine-like booklet. Then, when I heard about the Make 100 initiative, I thought this little project would be a fun thing to contribute.
Back when I had a website, I called it Popgun Chaos because it was just a blog for whatever weird things I wanted to write. It’s been my name on Twitter (follow me!) since I joined and it’s the name that I feel is synonymous with me now. Inside are the following writings:
Cockatrice - This is a short story where I do my best Neil Gaiman impression. I think it’s a fun little story that I one day want to turn into a children’s book. I just need to find an illustrator.
Welcome to Pinhook - A meth dealer is murdered in a small town in southwest Missouri. The rest of the book looks at how the death of someone so awful can affect the rest of the community. It’s Cormac McCarthy meets Twin Peaks but maybe a bit more innocent in places than that. This collection contains the first two chapters.
Patchwork - 300 years after Victor Frankenstein created life, corporations have taken his experiments and turned them into a manufacturing giant. Now, the Frankensteins can vote in their first election and a journalist covers all the issues that affect their vote. This collection contains the first two chapters and the button between the two.
Songs for Sisu - I have also included four poems from my upcoming poetry collection that I hope you enjoy.
If all 100 mixtapes are sold, then I will send a digital copy of the first six chapters of my pulp sci-fi book The New Wave Soldiers!
Risks and challenges
There's no risk. The project is totally done and printed and ready for me to write a poem for you personally.
As for challenges, sometimes it takes a few days to gather all the shipping materials necessary and get to the post office, but overall, it's not tough and will be out as soon as the money deposits in my account.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
