About this project
First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to consider this campaign. We look forward to having you as a Backer, and to work together to bring this project to life. Please feel free to reach out and ask questions, and thank you again for your consideration.
WHAT IS NEO TYRANNIS?
The models in this campaign grew out of our work with Collins Epic Wargames in support of the Polyversal rule system that was in its early stages of development back in 2013. We purposefully set out to design models that took a different approach to the way small scale scenery was conceived. The major consideration in these designs is that we wanted to present a true metropolis in miniature. What always seemed to be missing on small scale tables was that sense of proportion between the miniatures and the terrain, especially the buildings around them. Mechs towered over "skyscrapers" and city canyons were merely shallow ditches. Therefore, we set about designing the first five of these structures included here as part of the core goal in this campaign. We took our prototypes and even a production cast out to the conventions we attended so we could get the feedback from those in the community we would meet. Their response was overwhelmingly positive and critiques helped us come up with additional designs. The Tech Centre has now been added to the initial core group, to help create that variety in size you see in all major metropolitan areas around the globe. Now we bring this project to you the community at large and ask for your support to bring these buildings to a tabletop near you.
Where we can take things from here all depends on the support we receive from those of you in the 6 to 10mm Sci-Fi Gaming communities. We have other designs waiting in the wings that we are looking forward to being able to unveil as Stretch Goals as the campaign progresses. Whether you are ready to start playing Polyversal from Collins Epic Wargames or you already play games like "Dropzone Commander", "CAV: Strike Operations", "Battletech", "Robotech RPG Tactics", or any other small scaled Sci Fi game system out there, this campaign offers some awesome terrain to make your tabletop experience even grander.
We have worked with these primary designs now for quite sometime. We have prototyped 4 of the original 5(see inset images below) to make sure our design concepts would translate the way we had envisioned. We have even taken one of the models all the way to production (see inset image below) to prove the viability of the material we wanted to use in production. If funded we will be able to print higher resolution masters of each model and get them into molds for production, so they can take there place on your table.

We recently had an opportunity to sit down for an interview with Jonathan from Crowdfunding Cast to discuss the project. If you would like to have a listen just click the link below:
GOAL OF FUNDING
The purpose of this campaign is to get these models from the prototype stage into production. The larger structures will be cast in self skinning foam resin which is extremely light weight as well as durable. Some of you may not have much exposure to the use of foam resins, but they produce awesome models at a fraction of weight when compared to traditional hard resins. As an example the U.N.S.C. Doctrine Centre model stands 41cm (16.1") in height and weighs just 226.8g (8oz). This helps us achieve the best of both worlds with the detail of a fully dimensional model and the lower weight to help control shipping costs which would really add up were we to use heavier materials.
Please note that there are no set models assigned to each pledge level, we wanted you to have the flexibility to get the models you want through this campaign. To that end we established pledge tiers that allow you to shop the full line of buildings and accessories that are part of the campaign. Posted on each graphic you will see a U.S. Dollar value assigned to each model, both in the core group and on the Stretch Goals. When the campaign ends we will send out a pledge manager so that you can use the monies you have pledged to select the models you want from the entire list. For example, lets say you pledge at the City Manager Level for $310 US. When you receive your pledge manager you could go ahead and specify one of each of the core buildings ($40+40+45+50+65+70=$310), or use it as you will to get the models you prefer, the choice is yours. This also means that every model or infrastructure accessory will be available as an Add-on for those of you who are ready to fill up a table.
What about free stuff, always need free stuff! We have some things waiting to release as freebies as well for all backers at the Civil Engineer Level and above. These will include additional items of small terrain to help create interest at street level and above. If we reach Stretch Goal 1 we will announce the Freebie to be included with the subsequent Stretch Goal, and this will continue as long as we are hitting those additional goals.
We start out with a goal, but hopefully we will be able to do even more! Given the nature of this Kickstarter we will post a value to each goal that you may apply your pledge funds toward if you are interested in a particular Stretch Goal that may be unlocked.
With a project such as this there is no real way to set up a generic value to account for shipping that would cover the many different reward configurations that could result for individual Backers. Therefore, we will determine shipping cost and invoice at the time of fulfillment. We understand completely that everyone one wants the lowest shipping rate possible, and we aim to do that to all major regions of the globe. We will be fulfilling in these regions through localized distribution, and this will help to keep shipping costs as economical as possible.
Risks and challenges
As stated at the top of the page we have worked with these primary designs now for quite sometime. We have prototyped 4 of the original 5 to make sure our design concepts would translate the way we had envisioned. We have even taken one of the models all the way to production status to prove the viability of the material we wanted to use in production. If funded we will be able to print higher resolution masters of each model and get them into molds for production. We have a great deal of confidence in this process, but we know as with all projects there can be challenges to overcome. The team working this project from design to production has over 100 years of combined experience in practical design and casting. So we are confident that with that wealth of experience we can work through the challenges that may present themselves in constructive and creative ways.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
