WHO ARE WE?

SMTH MAG (pronounced "something mag") is an independent arts and culture magazine showcasing creative talent and focusing on important issues in society, started by two students wanting to create something that expresses creativity and is different to what most people have seen before.

We want to emphasis visual quality and a discussion of politics and cultural issues that we find especially relevant in modern society. We want SMTH to be something that you can pick up and browse to find that each page communicates something different; an atmosphere or emotion, something that may visually stun or provoke an individual or even create a form of escapism.

WHY DO WE NEED YOUR MONEY?

To ensure that our magazine can go to print, we need to collect £500 to kickstart the project and print our first 100 copies. The cost is so high as what we want to create is a quality publication; something that might be considered more of a book than it might be a magazine.

CAN YOU CONNECT WITH US?

You can contact and connect with us in a number of ways. We sell merchandise (and will sell the magazine) on our store, post video content on YouTube, and updates on both Twitter and Instagram. Alternatively, you can get in contact via email: contact.smthmag@gmail.com

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT TO SEE?

The content of the first issue is mostly to be confirmed but will include written features from writers such as Eliot Johnson and features interviews with personalities such as grime MC Manga Saint Hilare and photographer Jordan Curtis Hughes as well as the hip hop collective Society of Alumni.

Risks and challenges

The main risk we run is that if we do not meet our target then we cannot go to print.
