About this project
Who wouldn’t want to master the piano overnight?
Well now you can, thanks to our unique solution. It allows everyone to play the piano regardless of age or ability, without the tedious lessons, endless scales, or even a musical ear!
We call it RainPlay.
And it’s so easy to use, even a child can master it
Form, Function & Fun
Think of RainPlay as a beautiful visualiser for musical notes.
Place the elegant brushed aluminium panel above your keys, select your favourite piece of music, press play and amaze yourself and your audience!
RainPlay makes use of hundreds of rain-like LED lights to show you which key to play. Descending blue lights represent black keys, and white lights represent white keys.
You can set the brightness of the LEDs as required.
The cascading system makes it very easy to anticipate the upcoming notes. You can also pause the song, rewind it or adjust the speed of both music and cascading to allow complete control of your performance.
RainPlay is available in 3 sizes (88, 76 and 49 notes ) to fit all pianos and keyboards.
It’s not only fun and friendly, but easier to read than sheet music. This makes RainPlay ideal for players of all ages.
Have a friend join you to play the harder pieces!
Songs To Streams
RainPlay supports MIDI files, which you can store on an SD card, like a camera or smartphone.
All you need to do is find your chosen piece of music on a PC or laptop and load it into RainPlay.
We deliver each device with a pre-loaded list of songs, and you can easily download thousands more online for free.
Stand Alone Mode
RainPlay doesn't need a computer to operate. Insert an SD card, choose your song and PLAY! In this mode you power RainPlay with the included 5v USB power supply
You can also stream midi directly from your favourite MIDI software via USB-MIDI. In this mode the unit is powered by the computer's USB port, no batteries required!
We love and recommend Synthesia. you can even use the RainPlay control box as a remote to control the tempo and playback of the software!
Play. Practice. Master
RainPlay is a fantastic point of entry into the world of music-learning.
Beginners will love how fun and exciting it is. How great it feels when they realise they are in control of this new, and sometimes intimidating instrument.
More advanced players can also use RainPlay to practice songs. When used alongside traditional teaching methods, it becomes a powerful rehearsing tool for teachers and students alike.
Finally, it is the perfect way to rediscover the joy of piano. Players who have stopped practicing can now relive their favourite musical memories, seamlessly and note perfect thanks to RainPlay.
About the creators
We are a father and son with a passion for music and creativity. When Patrick finally bought the piano of his dreams, he realised he was a bit rusty from not playing after all these years.
This is when he asked Alex, who builds synthesizers for a living, to create a simple solution that would help him pick up his piano playing where he left it. This is how RainPlay was born!
Rainplay is designed and assembled by a father and son team at their rural workshop in the South of France.
Alex's wealth of experience creating custom digital synthesizers enables him to handle all aspects of circuit design and software programming, while Patrick's experience in the arts and graphic design proves useful in hardware design, promotion and marketing.
The team have a number of trusted suppliers that they can rely on, which is essential for such a project.
Alex and Patrick both share the task of carefully assembling, and throughly testing each RainPlay prior to dispatch worldwide.
Risks and challenges
