About this project
Do you love all animals ranging from the common house cat to the exotic axolotl? What about quirky illustration and sketches? Yes? Well then, this is the book you’ve been waiting for!
Since 2012, Steph Laberis and Jeannine Schafer have been combining their shared passion for art and animals to bring you an annual self-published art book under the series title, Snorffles n’ Meeps! Each book contained 34 pages of full color illustrations of our favorite animals and some we’d never even heard of before. The books have sold out each year, and demand continues to grow, so this year, we thought we would step things up a bit and create an even bigger collection of some of our favorite creatures!
The only problem is that the cost of printing 500 hardcover books compared to 200 small softcover books is, well, substantial to say the least, and we don't have the funds to pay the upfront printing costs. Thus, becoming a backer will make this book entirely possible and gives you a chance to get some really cool stuff!
UPDATE #2 - Totes mah Goats!
Now onto that next stretch goal! We've got some working art for that tote, and what else could we possibly put on it besides goats? You might say one can... wait for it... TOTES MAH GOATS. We're awful. We know. ;)
While the exact tote bag type and the final art may change slightly, we're for sure looking at a 3 color natural canvas tote bag, perfect for keeping all your Snorffles & Meeps swag in! A very important note about this stretch goal: we took a bit of a chance with the budget when we added the kitten pins and Raturdae cards to the live campaign, so we have very little wiggle room when it comes to reaching the funding goal for the bags. Understand that this has not impacted the production of the book or schedule in any way, plus it means you guys get more stuff without having to unlock anything - but unless we hit $12500 by the end of the day tomorrow (or come very, *very* close!), we can't make the totes happen. Always feel free to ask us questions if you have any concerns, but the bottom line is, we have just a little less than $1000 to make these happen, and I know you guys can get us there. :)
We're so close, but we're also running out of time. Some of you have answered the call for help in the last couple of days by sharing the campaign and some of you have even raised your pledges to higher tiers - which is AMAZING! We can't let something like that go without thanks, so Jeannine and I have stretched the budget as far as it can go to offer every backer who pledges $50 or more these brand new rewards:
Jeannine throws down with a custom enamel pin featuring one of her most-loved pieces and Steph does what she does best with 3 brand new Raturdae designs, in the form of blank-inside greeting cards. We hope you'll like these as much as we do and consider going that extra mile to push us over the edge of funding - we have so little yet so much to go!
So what's new in Volume 3?
First of all, it's 124 pages of pure Snorffles n' Meeps! It contains full color spreads, featuring 64 pages of completely new artwork!
Not to mention, the first 50 books sold, regardless of reward tier level, will come with a sketch in the front cover by Steph and Jeannine!
And Here's a Bonus!
The entire first two volumes are included within the new book, condensed to 34 pages and including sketches and process work! Combined with 64 pages of brand new artwork, new sketches, a table of contents and bonus sketches, Volume 3 clocks in at 124 pages total!
But What About Rewards?
We've got you covered! We've got goodies for every budget, ranging from stickers and exclusive prints to handmade pillows, original paintings and yes, FELTIES!
First of all, we have a brand new, beautiful collaborative print, exclusive with your purchase of Volume 3! Who fancies themselves some tigers?
Here are some other examples of rewards tiers, full details are over on the right side of the page!
How About Stretch Goals?
Fear not, for we have carefully budgeted our goal for this kickstarter. Every cent will be spent on manufacturing the books, shipping, materials for the rewards and taxes. We seek only to cover our base costs and to make art that people of all ages can enjoy!
Risks and challenges
The risks are few at the moment - the majority of the artwork for the book is done, our printer has been very communicative and we are on track to begin shipping books and rewards in mid-October. While it’s always possible that machinery can fail, freight can go missing, we could both randomly come down with swine flu and books can spontaneously combust, these issues would result in a delay and not a cancellation of production. We’ve also buffered our schedule by a few weeks to ensure that we can meet all of our deadlines in cases of unforeseen sickness or injuries, so fear not.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
