Lets light up solar style lonely tree on top of mountain...
In the town of Salinas Puerto Rico on top of a mountain lies a lonely Mango tree. Since young, I've always wondered about this tree, it has some sort of aura about it. How do I get up there, it even possible to get up there? I can promise you that that I'm not the only one that feels this way. I'm estimating around 10,000 people daily see it. Older and wiser, found out how to get up there. It was like magic being close to it. Suddenly had the crazy idea of lighting it up with Christmas lights. And we need your help to make this happen.
We're here in Kickstarter to make this dream a reality. Asking donations for the following. Already found a company that produces Solar LED's in order to provide the electricity to light up the lights in the middle of nowhere, and they're not cheap. Already talk to one of the companies, and we need around1,200 to 2,500 lights in order to be seen from a distance of 2,0000 ft. (rough estimate). Total cost of lights is $1,300.00 dollars, plus around $100.00 for S&H. Also, people are going to be curious of installation and can be prone to robbery so were also adding another $300.00 for security (already talk to the neighbors, promise to keep a eye on it. Also, another around $300.00 to buy extra materials such as signs to post info, pay for food, water. Estimating that we need around 10-20 volunteers in order to install lights. $100.00 to compensate graphic designer fort art. $60.00 dollars for x cuantity of postcards. $100.00 posters. This would be the bare minimum for the project.
- Throwing ideas such as, install a transmitting antenna to send out message.
-Install controllable LED's. In theory people through smartphone can control patterns or write messages.
- Install security cameras
- Filming documentary. Need to compensate director. Would include filming of the whole process
The more funding we receive the more extras we can include
-Already visited neighborhood where tree is located, and are supporting the idea.
-Telephoned company that produces the lights and said around 1,200 - 2,500 lights would be needed for project.
-Investigating who actually owns said property. Hopefully by the week of Sept. 10-14 will find that information out and request permission for project
-Close to having the "manpower" to install art installation
-Plan is to install the day after Thanksgiving. First day of Christmas in the island of Puerto Rico
-Love for art.
-The idea of decorating a tree with Christmas lights in the middle of nowhere.
- The power of grassroots.
-Causing a smile in people faces.
-The power of community.
-Sustainability and being good to your environment.
-Puerto Rico is going through a violent crime wave and this would be a signed of change.
-Document process with a combination of video, photography and timelapse.
