A Guidebook to Self(i.e.) Love began as a personal journal, filled with raw emotions and life advice that got me through some of the toughest times in my life. The more I wrote in this book, the more it started helping me get closer to a point of self-love. And when the advice I was writing really started to resonate with my friends, I knew I had to share this book with everyone (that’s you).
Over the course of my twenty years on this planet, I've come across so many people that battled some of the toughest self-loving dilemmas imaginable—body image, coming out, self-acceptance, interpersonal relationships, etc. And when I was younger, I dealt with a lot of bullying, name calling, and many self-esteem issues. All I could ever think about were those days when I would cry because I felt helpless and alone. But, as I started writing this book, I discovered that I was not alone in my battles and understand that got me through the painful experiences.
If there was any advice I would give to my younger self, it is in this book because it would have changed my life. This book filled with pain, anxiety, depression, mistakes, successes, inspirations, heartbreaks, and all the things life has thrown at me. What’s in this book, though, is something that I believe will change the world’s perspective, even if only in a small way. It's hope. If I’ve only learned one thing through it all, it’s that self(i.e.) love is attainable.
I feel like we all need a constant reminder that we're not in this alone. We together can spread peace, love, and positivity one

My name is Eddie Oliver Smith and I’m a 20-year-old Author, Filmmaker, YouTuber, and LGBT activist who’s shared his quirky, comedic, but emotionally charged lifestyle video blogs for the past 7 years. With over 2.2 million overall views across my 5 youtube channels, I’ve tried to share my powerful messages of peace, love, and positivity as I’ve battled some intense bullying, hatred, death threats, and non-acceptance by turning the hate into love.
I just finished one of the biggest, most emotional, and by far the most costly project to date which is my self-published, self-help, LGBT friendly guidebook titled A Guidebook To Self(i.e.) Love. Touching on everything from coming out to relationships, battles with self-esteem and life’s ups and downs, “Self(i.e.) Love” is an archive of expression and direction—that 2 A.M. advice you’d get from your best friend and/or the tough-love advice you’d get from a close family member. This book has been an intense passion project and I'm hoping to share its messages with the world.
After going viral on Vice.com last year for my artistic recreation of my idol Lady Gaga’s concert, I decided to dedicate my online life to inspire others to love themselves. I’m willing to talk about some of my deepest and darkest issues of my past if it will inspire other kids across the world.
I hope that by sharing advice “coming out” of real life situations, that it will help anyone overcome some of the biggest self(i.e) loving dilemmas they face every day. “So here’s to hoping that one day soon, whenever you’re ready, that you too can start living. All you gotta do is find a little bit of self(i.e.) love.” - #SelfieLoveBook
Growing up is never easy, and coming to find out that you’re different is even harder to deal with. Facing harsh bullying, name calling, and teasing, Eddie always had a difficult time navigating the world around him. It wasn’t until a major emotional breakdown happened that Eddie realized it was time to finally give himself a chance at Self(i.e) Love. Now it's your turn.
No matter what life throws at you, no matter how tough it gets, who you want to love or who you want to be, this book gives a sense of hope and understanding that there is so much more that comes out of those painful experiences. Coming out is hard. Breakups suck. Comparing ourselves to others is not good.
Written for everyone, this book of life lessons might just make your journey to self-acceptance a little easier. Whether you're looking to find yourself again after a rough break up, struggling to accept yourself or others around you, or looking to break out of your shell of insecurities, this book will give you that support that you need to LOVE YOURSELF <3
It's been quite a sprint up until this point, but we still have a mountain to climb. Although A Guidebook to Self(i.e.) Love is finished, it's not out in the world yet and in the hands of people.
This has been a costly and time-intensive project both for Eddie and his team. Spending over a year writing it and two full months of late nights, and no sleep for my team, Eddie need's your help getting the book printed and awareness out about #SelfieLoveBook
Since we chose the self-publishing route, the costs of printing, design work, graphics and photos, and so on have been absorbed solely by the author, so all the help is appreciated. Please consider either pre-ordering a book or donating any amount.

If you can't donate, help Eddie spread the word! Eddie is traveling to Los Angeles, California in hopes to meet up with some LGBT YouTubers/media personalities/activists who Eddie’s has been inspired, influenced, and/or been following this past year while writing the book. Eddie is currently looking to spread the world via all media, in hopes that he can continue to spread the messages of peace, love, and positivity.
Being an LGBT activist, Eddie has decided to focus on bringing awareness, opening up the conversation, and showing the world that being apart of the LGBT community doesn't have to be scary. Although this book is for anyone, this book is extra special to all the brothers and sisters in the community. Because together, we can make the world a kinder, nicer, better place just by treating other people with compassion.
Eddie is so very thankful to the team who donated their time and creative power to help put together this project. As college students, we would like to pay off student debt through putting our skills to work. We want to earn the money to pay off loans while also establishing ourselves as creators.

Risks and challenges
Since the book design, test prints, and so on are already complete, the only risks and challenged associated with this project are the cost of printing.
Self-publishing is very costly, so we're in the process of finding a printer that will meet our demand and strict quality standards Eddie must reach 100 pre-orders to fulfill a 1st print run.
If the goal is not met, books will not be printed and/or received, so please share with friends and help us meet this goal.
If goal is met, all sales are final and no refunds will be given. thank you for understanding.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
