Palatial villas. Private jets. Winding waterways. Ancient banyan trees. These are a few of the many memorable features that welcomed me to Palm Beach in the late 1990s.
I had just been hired as an editor at POLO Magazine, and what I learned about the game of kings was far more than could ever fit in a single article: the bloodthirsty competitiveness; the millions of dollars doled out for players, playthings, and Thoroughbreds; and of course the splendor and excitement of the world's oldest team sport.
It was a treasure trove, a life known only to a select few, and I was compelled to take what I saw and craft a truly memorable tale. I put it all — and much more — into The Perfect 10.
This project is a first for me. I've built my career in the nonfiction world: editing magazines such as The Land Report; writing books and screenplays such as The Cup, starring Brendan Gleeson and directed by Simon Wincer; and dashing off articles for The New York Times, Cigar Aficionado, and Texas Monthly. Despite the steep learning curve, writing a polo murder mystery was a challenge I could not resist.
The Perfect 10 is written. It's ready to go to press. And your pledge will help me bring this book to life. If international intrigue and power plays trip your trigger, then The Perfect 10 is for you. See for yourself. The first chapter is on me! ~ EOK
Risks and challenges
Not many risks: The Perfect 10 has been written, copyedited, and proofed. As far as challenges go: I regularly oversee the design, production, and distribution of 50,000 copies of The Land Report. I'm the magazine's editor, and this experience prepped me for bringing The Perfect 10 to life.
If murder is your game, The Perfect 10 is for you. Help me bring this book to life with a pledge. Thanks in advance for your support!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
