About

 There may be other spinners out there that can be controlled somewhat by magnets, but spin speeds are very slow and hard to control. With MagneTronz patent pending technology, you can achieve blazing fast spin speeds with complete control! Simply swirl the controller magnet a few inches above your MagneTronz and watch it take off. Not only watch it, but feel the power! 

 How MagneTronz Technology Works

Two 5/8" sphere shaped magnets are attached to the MagneTronz spinner, and a 3/4" sphere shaped magnet is swirled in the controller a few inches above the body. The action makes the body spin in the opposite direction of the larger magnet swirling in the cup above, creating a vortex. The body spins slow at first but begins to pick up speed quickly. The magnets then synchronize at which point the body will be spinning much faster than the larger magnet above.

Size Matters

The size of the cup used to swirl the control magnet affects the speed of the MagneTronz base. The cup used to swirl the control magnet can be used to spin the MagneTronz at two different speeds. It is much easier to initiate the spin with the smaller end of the cup. To start the MagneTronz, spin the control magnet using the smaller end of the cup. Once the ManeTronz is spinning at a good pace, flip the cup over so that the magnet is rolling on the large end of the cup and continue to spin in the same direction. Once the MagneTronz syncs again, it will spin much faster than spinning with the smaller end of the cup.

Light it Up

 If you take copper wire and wind it into a coil, then swirl a magnet past the coil at a high rate of speed, you can produce an electrical current. This is the basic principle behind electricity. MagneTronz are basically power generators. If you place the correct size coil in front of a MagneTronz while spinning, you can light up a LED. MagneTronz are a great learning tool or science experiment!

The MagneTronz Discovery

As a part-time garage experimenter, I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of perpetual motion and overunity (getting more power out than you put in). I'm still not convinced anyone has achieved either, but hopeful that the concepts become reality some day.  

I spend a lot of time researching the internet and YouTube and see a lot of the same thing when it comes to magnetically controlled devices. Most of the magnets that are used are either disc shaped or rectangular, typically placed in a circle around a spinning platter. Then another magnet or magnets are placed near the spinning base in an effort to make it spin on its own. The ones that actually work spin at a low rate of speed and have to be timed perfectly in order to maintain their spin.

After watching way too many videos (most of which can be debunked), I decided to get some Neodymium magnets and give it a try myself, but before I ordered, I thought "what shape are magnets in nature?" The answer was a sphere, like the shape of planets. I ordered four 1" sphere shaped, Neodymium magnets and began to experiment. After playing with the magnets for over a year and discovering a couple of cool things, I packed them away and forgot about it.

One day I had the itch to play with magnets again. This time I was determined to make a magnetic device that would spin on its own. I ordered twelve smaller sphere shaped magnets and began to try as many different configurations as I could think of. I finally discovered one configuration using six magnets that allowed me to control the spinning base with one sphere shaped magnet, held in my hand above it. The spin speed was a little faster than anything I saw on YouTube, so I felt pretty proud of myself.  

Then I had an “ah-ha” moment. I was rinsing out a glass, swirling water around the base, and thought, "what if I swirled a sphere shaped magnet in a container above the base?" Initially the idea didn’t work, but I could tell I was on the right track. After more trial and error, I tried just placing two magnets on the base and low and behold the thing took off!  

Two things really stood out: first, the base was spinning in the opposite direction than the magnet swirling above it. Second and more important, when synced, the base was spinning at a much higher rate of speed than the magnet swirling above it. This is not perpetual motion or overunity, however, as it still requires someone to swirl the magnet above the base in order to make it spin. I'm not sure if I'm the first person to discover this concept, but I do find it fascinating.  

While doing more research into my discovery, I stumbled onto fidget spinners. I had never even heard of them before, but what a great match! People like to spin things, and I found an amazing way to make them spin.
And MagneTronz was born.
