One lesson I learned early in life is to do for you what you would normally beg, pray, ask, and hope for. Don’t wait for it to tumble down from the sky and fall on you. You must create what you want, so that’s exactly what I and Kendrick Daye did with our children’s book, “LARGE FEARS.”
We wanted to see a queer black boy represented in children’s books and instead of waiting for it to come to be, we created it. I, Myles E. Johnson, put ink to paper and wrote a world and character filled wonderment, adventure, and humanity. Kendrick Daye, with magic and paint, exhaled into the rib’s of my literature and brought my world to life. We spent over a year designing the story and world that our young queer black boy, Jeremiah Nebula would thrive in. We fought, cried, thought, and edited to make sure this world was honest, artful, and inspiring. Today, I am happy to say that our large dream came true due to our diligence.
The second part of our dream needs you.
We couldn’t stand the idea of waiting for a big company, publisher, or investor to tell us that our narrative, world, and characters were worthy to be shared especially knowing how difficult it can be to get people to believe in diverse narratives, especially one where a queer boy of color was centered.

Follow Jeremiah's Journey:
Risks and challenges
We want to take this project in our own hands. However, we your need help. Along with the book “LARGE FEARS,” Kendrick and I carefully created a workshop for children that speaks on conquering large fears, accepting differences in others, and chasing your large dreams. We want every child to be able to experience this workshop. We also want every child, especially every child that might feel scared or different, to be able to have a copy of “LARGE FEARS”. Me and Kendrick’s large dream is for this generation of children to have what we didn’t which is a character that defies gender roles, race politics, sexuality, and his fears. Simply, it is time there is a queer child of color that goes on adventures, tells his story, and gives children that can relate to parts (or all of him) someone to look up to, so the seed of confidence and hope can be sewn into children that would otherwise feel disenfranchised and inferior to the perpetually white, heterosexual archetype.
The money you donate will go to travel, booking spaces for the workshop, and helping produce large quantities of “LARGE FEARS.” No donation is too small, everything counts. Also, every donation comes with a special gift from Jeremiah Nebula himself that he acquired on his journey to Mars that he wanted to give you for your sacrifice.
Sincerely, this is one of the most important projects that Kendrick and I have ever embarked on and your contribution to the “LARGE FEARS” movement means more than you could ever imagine. It isn’t just supporting a book, but giving us a chance to give hope and dreams to disenfranchised children that only know being looked over and forgotten. Thank you in advance for giving us the power to deliver the precious gift of bravery, hope, and large dreams.
