In December of 2016, I will record 10 original songs in the Rubber Room Studio of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
The team for the album includes Andrew Marlin of Mandolin Orange (producer, musician), Josh Oliver (musician), and Jerry Brown of the Shady Grove Band and the Rubber Room (co-producer, recording engineer).
I feel incredibly lucky to have this opportunity. Just from one day in the studio this past August, I know that Andrew, Josh, and Jerry are the best team I could ask for, and I trust them to help me make my dream record.

All rewards/merchandise for the record is done by Grace Van Dyk.
Alex Prestrud will be designing paintings.
Kendall Atwater will be doing the Photography.
Special thanks to Vann Dwiggins, Elthon Mendoza, & Donald James Best II for help with the Kickstarter video, and making me feel less crazy.
By April, I will have recorded my first full-length record. The songs that I have been nurturing and raising for the past year and a half will come to life.
I've been a musician for as long as I can remember. My sister and I spent our childhood in Suzuki violin lessons and fiddlers conventions in Southwestern, Virginia. This past year and a half has flown by - I started writing and playing more of my own music outside of the bands I had been playing the fiddle for. You may know I spent time in an Americana band – and recall the cross-country tour I begged my parents to let me go on in 2014 - you may also recall the song I wrote in reflection on said tour, “The Only Pretty Thing In Texas.” After another year at App State, I spent most of the summer of 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee, finding places to perform, and writing songs. My goal was to develop enough good songs for a full-length record. When I returned in late summer to Boone, school seemed less and less to be the path I was called to follow, and at the end of my junior year I moved back to Raleigh to pursue music full-time.
In Raleigh, I work as a hostess at The Flying Biscuit. I gig at least 5 times a month. Not being in school has given me the flexibility to travel for days at a time, write more songs, and take care of the nitty gritty details of the artist’s life. In fact, I have written more new songs since I have moved back than I can include on my first full-length record.
As many of you know, I am a long-time fan of the duo Mandolin Orange. My sister introduced me to them shortly after their formation around 7 years ago. From the lyrics, to the melodies and the harmonies, and their chemistry in performance, their music very much speaks to me -- I can only hope that my music might have a similar impact. Andrew Marlin, one of the band’s co-founders, also produces music. It has been my dream to have Andrew one day produce a record for me, but this was a dream on the back burner. I was discussing that dream on May 25th of this year with Libby Rodenbough, a lovely friend, and the fiddle player for Mipso (who Andrew has produced). She convinced me to just send him a message about it, and see what he might say. It seemed so simple, but I was pretty nervous. Now, lo and behold, Andrew will be producing my first full-length album, to be recorded at the Rubber Room Studio in Chapel Hill (home to recordings of Steep Canyon Rangers, Doc Watson, Lou Reed, Jerry Douglas, Lucinda Williams and countless others!), and I still can’t believe it.
Here I Go
I would not be doing this if I wasn’t sure with every fiber of my being that music is what I am meant to do, to bring my joys (and my sorrows) to the world. It is far out of my comfort zone to ask for something like this, but I cannot do it without your help.
