About this project
WATCH OUR 1 MINUTE VIDEO!
A modern age coloring book about Electric Vehicles that is packed with useful information and facts that are both adult and child friendly (mostly). Filled with funny antics, bizarre questions and useful infographics! It's pretty adorable but you don't have to take my word for it!
Have you ever had those moments where you thought you could write an entire book JUST from your everyday wacky situations from work?
Well, that's basically what I've done. I've compiled months of bizarre questions, anecdotes, and occurrences from working at an electric vehicle store to bring you An Unpretentious Guide & Coloring Book to Electric Vehicles.
AS SEEN ON:
MORE INFO ABOUT WHY I STARTED THE PROJECT>>>
I have been working at ***** [top secret information] for about a year now. I haven't used the ***** name or logo for the project but the occurrences that I have written about have all happened during my time here.
I initially wanted to start the project because I got quite a laugh from the wide range of questions that I was being asked on a daily basis. I thought why not make it into a book that other people could also enjoy and learn from?
Not only have my artist and I drawn out all these wacky situations but I've also provided thoughtful responses to inform the public about EVs. I've also come up with fun infographics relating to gas money saved and total number of Electric miles driven.
I wouldn't be able to sell it if I didn't believe in it. I work everyday informing people who walk in the store and I would love to be able to do that on a grander scale. EVs are the way of the future so what better way to inform adults and children alike?
This is my first project but I do have a degree in English which helps me articulate my thoughts so that they get across, if that makes any sense. This definitely won't be the last project either! That's for sure. I would love to continue to make educational materials to promote sustainability and green thinking.
I will be updating our progress regularly for everyone to see!
So here is some of the stuff we've gotten together to show you what we've finished for the book so far.
I've already written out the entire book and we are working on finishing the artwork for the book as we speak!
Here are some of our sketches for the book! Of course the final product will be cleaned up so you'll have things to color in.
*And stay tuned because new sketches will be up every week!*
I've literally been asked things like, "Can you plug in a chainsaw into the cigarette lighter?".
How does one answer that question? I'm not even joking...this really happened. The same guy asked if he could "PLUG THE CAR INTO ITSELF TO CHARGE"
So I had Sarah, the awesome artist, take the question and make it the cover for our book! Above is a quick sketch depicting just that! And here is a fully colored version for those of you who are curious:
What about questions like, "What happens if I hit a wombat with this car?".
Sarah had the great idea to make it a Connect-The-Dots wombat! How cute is that!
*And for those of you who don't live in Australia, apparently hitting wombats in your car is really a big concern...it actually said so on the label of a Canned Wombat that I bought...Crazy right?*
"Is that the flux capacitor?"
Some Cool Infographics that we are going to illustrate:
"The Total Number of Electric Miles Driven is the same as Surviving the trip around the Bermuda Triangle over 265 thousand times."
"The Total Number of Electric Miles Driven is the same as Falling down through the Rabbit Hole 200,500 times."
More Awesome Infographics to come!!!
[Designed by Meltdown Inc.]
We've also designed some rad stickers for you to use for whatever! Different color variations have also been made so if we meet our stretch goals they will be printed in various colors! Who doesn't like a rad sticker?
*Most of it IS Kid Friendly but there may be one or two that are PG.*
This book is for everyone! And for those of you who have already jumped on the EV bandwagon, this will be a good laugh because I'm sure you've experienced similar situations that I have. It also works as a great gift for those who are still not convinced that EVs are right for them.

Native to Los Angeles. Ayumi is a car enthusiast by nature who loves sports, guns, monster trucks and writing. Not your everyday blonde Asian, what better person is there to write a book about electric cars?
I've also drawn a couple of the illustrations in the book as well.
If you would like more than one or multiples of the same reward, please donate the appropriate amount and then write a note in the message section.
All postcards and prints will be drawings from the actual book. There will be 3 different prints available: Chainsaw, Wombat and a Mystery Print. We will upload the Mystery Print Sketch at a later date.
What will we be using the money for?
We will be using a good portion of the funds raised to pay for the actual publishing of the book. We want our goods to be of the best quality without making any compromises. With the rest of the funds we will produce postcards, stickers and other reward items for our dedicated Kickstarter backers. We will also need to pay for the art, design layout of the book, editing and merchandise design to make it as professional and classy as possible.
If we make $5,000 we will be printing custom T-shirts JUST for this project. You can either wear the shirt and be a bro or be a pretentious Silverlake hipster, whichever. We will be adding the shirts to the Rewards once we have reached our goals! Backers who donate $40+ will get their own T-Shirt. Or we will add a new $25 Reward for just the T-shirt.
If we make $6,000 we will make custom Tote Bags! Great for grocery trips or even a day at the beach! Don't worry, I'm pretty sure it'll be pretty freakin adorable. And with all the grocery stores charging you for bags, it'll come in handy! Will be added to the Rewards after we have reached our goals! Backers who donate $40+ will get their own Tote Bag. Or we will add a new $15 Reward for just the Tote Bag.
If we make $7,000 we will make some of my favorite cardboard paper pens and custom chocolate bars! Who can say no to awesome cardboard pens and delicious custom made chocolate? They'll come with a custom designed package and they'll be shipped right to your door! Backers who donate $40+ will get their own Pen & Chocolate Bar. Or we will add a new $15 Reward for just the Pen & Chocolate Bar.
Risks and challenges
Some challenges we might have is getting all the art put together and ready for printing by the delivery date, but to overcome this obstacle I have been vigilant on keeping on top of all of the artists to make sure everyone is working on schedule to have this book done and printed by the Kickstarter delivery date.
Otherwise, we have found a great local place to print our book as well as all of our other rewards. Everything will be made right here in Los Angeles, CA. We will supporting small local businesses during the making of this book.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
