About this project
In an effort to raise awareness and foster appreciation for music composed by women, we seek support for a September 23 concert of works by Women Cascadia Composers to be held at Portland State University. Featured composers include Susan Alexjander, Elizabeth Dyson, Cynthia Gerdes, Lisa Marsh, Bonnie Miksch, Jan Mittelstaedt, and Carol Phillips, and a number of professional musicians have committed to performing. One feature of this project is to award one female student composer both a professional public performance of their piece and a scholarship prize. This year's featured student composer is Amelia Bierly.
The total costs to put on this concert is $3,775 and includes $3,125 for artists' fees for performers, $150 piano tuning, $250 printing of programs and postcards, and $250 for scholarship. Your support would supplement our projected revenue of $800 from concert tickets, $400 from composer donations, and $500 from a September fundraiser concert. Our funding goal from this kickstarter campaign is $1500.
Many volunteers and in-kind donations are also helping to make this happen. We would like thank Portland State University's Music Department for the generous donation of concert space free of charge.
