About

Intudia is a new type of entertainment platform that focuses on interactive stories and audiobooks. With Intudia, the story - and the experience - is driven by the choices you make.  

Throughout the course of the story, you, as the main character, have the power to decide the fate of the characters. Due to the choices you make, the story unfolds in unique, and surprising, ways.  

Interactive audiobooks are a great alternative to paper books because the user's imagination is stimulated in a completely different way. Intudia’s choice-driven stories enable you to enjoy stories and have fun with friends or family.  

Intudia provides interactive digital entertainment that doesn’t require you to stare at a screen for hours.  

Intudia was started back in 2015 as a user-driven narrative project. Since then we have changed course into what Intudia is today. You can try out our latest prototype on our website

We need you to help us raise the funds required to develop a user-approved mobile app, write & procure all the stories, and hire professional narrators.  

We want to share our journey, our dream, and our commitment to inclusive fun, so we’re asking you to back us here on Kickstarter!

Currently, our platform is in the prototype stage. Our simple, easy-to-use web-based stories work seamlessly and make you a part of the story. Based on our prototype, we have gathered a vast amount of feedback and are working to enhance our online platform by bringing you a mobile app.

With the Intudia app, you’ll be able to enjoy, and participate in, stories from your favorite genres, including crime, horror, romance, and drama. While we work on bringing Intudia to your phone, read one of our latest stories, Addicott Manor.

We estimate that a commercial launch is possible in June 2020.

Technology

Version 1.0 of Intudia will be a subscription-based app, available for both Android and iOS. Full functionality will ensure that listening and reading is as enjoyable as possible.

Content

Intudia produces stories from every major genre, such as thriller, drama, romance, comedy, horror, historical fiction and more.

We also aim to bring in external authors to ensure that we have the best and most diverse content base updated regularly.

Intudia will become a subscription-based service as soon as the first commercial version is released. All subscription holders will get full access to all content on the platform.

We estimate that a subscription will cost $4.49 per month and that we will be able to release several new stories every month.

The Intudia prototype is open to the public and you can try one of our newest stories for free. It is a horror story called The Addicott Manor.

 Bear in mind that this is still a prototype and a preview of what’s to come.

For those who pledge enough to get access to the interactive audiobooks, we've set up a list of stretch goals as seen below.

 

Every stretch goal adds a new interactive audiobook at no extra charge. The first three interactive audiobooks will be released if the Kickstarter becomes a success.

They will be delivered in February, March, and April 2019, and after that, another story will be delivered after each unlocked stretch goal (each in about one-month intervals).

More stretch goals will be revealed if the Kickstarter progresses even further!
 

Intudia was founded by two childhood friends, Nicki Blådal and Nicolai Vedel Kellberg. After spending much of their adolescence playing old fashion role-playing games, the two friends missed an alternative suitable for adults who can rarely find time to meet.

Nicolai is the lead author on Intudia. He has a bachelor in social education, a master's degree in educational psychology and more than 15 years of experience in creating interactive storytelling. Nicki came to Intudia with a Master of Science and Technology and is co-founder of a Danish software development company; he is managing the technical development and administration of Intudia.

There are many benefits of being an avid reader. First of all, you become better at language, both written and spoken. You also store knowledge from what you are reading into your semantic memory. That is one of the reasons why we at Intudia try to make the material in our stories as factual as possible. Our interactive stories let the reader explore and interact with a myriad of universes. These universes are created to stimulate learning and entertainment in various aspects.

Cognitive aspects

As mentioned earlier, you become better at the written and spoken language. But our interactive stories are also about analyzing various situations, remembering cues and solving problems. Thus, you strengthen your ability to analyze and mentalize in and outside of the story.

Factual aspects 

Even though our stories are fictional, they draw inspiration from the real world. This means that we have spent a great amount of time researching the settings in which our stories take place. You can learn a great deal about diving if you engage in a story which takes place underwater. It can also be facts about the Vietnam War, a medieval witch hunt or wherever a story takes you.

Social aspects  

Our interactive stories are a great get-together for friends and family. Relax and socialize, debate and argue with your family and friends about what choice to make in any given situation. You will have to discuss and decide what the best course of action is in the story.  

Emotional aspects  

You will meet and interact with a broad variety of characters. There is no choice but to put yourself in the shoes of the character you control, but also the characters you engage with. The stories are created to engage you emotionally, which can make you feel what the character is feeling. The characters also find themselves in dilemmas which can reflect aspects from your own life. Would you save someone else’s life and forfeit your own? Would you make choices that make you stand out from the crowd? Would you hurt someone who has wronged you to get revenge?  

Location and characters  

Intudia has a great focus on creating a variety of main characters. We try to make our stories as diverse as possible, going against stereotypical characters in fiction. We include a broad variety of locations, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, ages and socioeconomic statuses through the course of human history. As mentioned earlier, there is much to learn from being in the shoes of another person. In a time where more and more voices are advocating putting up walls and segregating people, Intudia wants to build bridges.

This article is about research on how the reader relates to the protagonists in fiction. How the reader imagines the scene from different point-of-views and how the reader’s psychological perspective is emulated toward the protagonist’s.

This dissertation criticizes and problematizes gender stereotypes in literature and the impact it may have in society and its inhabitants.

This article discusses the stereotypical use of characters with a disability as being evil, helpless or immoral.

Modern Trends in Literature Development in the Conditions of Cultural Globalization  

This article blames globalization for being the culprit behind vague and stereotypical protagonists in literature around the world. There is no innovation to be found anymore. It is rather a recreation of the same plot, story and characters.

At Intudia we believe that transparency and honesty are key to run a sustainable business. We are therefore open about how our funding will be spent.

In order to make Intudia a success we’ll need external funds. It will approximately take a whole working year to develop the app and a little longer to produce the initial content base.  

Many startups are choked due to the high salaries of founders and early employees. In respect to our ambitions, we at Intudia have decided to keep salaries at the official minimum for the entire start-up phase.

Intudia has been around for some time but we only just went public a few months ago. Yet you might still have heard or seen us in one of the following. 

Risks and challenges

The final platform/app is not yet developed, and as with all unfinished projects, delays might occur.

The Intudia founders are experienced with both content creation and development of IT systems, however, external help is necessary in order to deliver the final product.
