We have written issue # 1 of the Danger Wolf/Safety Bunny saga, a story about two sides of vigilante justice and what it takes to be a real hero. Now we need your help to print physical books! We need to raise $6,000 to cover the cost of finalizing the artwork, printing, and shipping out our first run of Danger Wolf comics.
ABOUT THE STORY:
Danger Wolf is a story about a hero in the twilight of his career. Set in the early 80’s in the desert city of San Lazaro, our story takes place in a once thriving gambling mecca suffering from crime and urban rot after gambling was outlawed nearly overnight.
Unbeknownst to the public, those anti-gambling laws were backed by the General Appliance Corporation or G.A.C. who hoped to turn San Lazaro into its primary manufacturing hub, by using the desperate and impoverished locals as cheap labor. The casinos were repurposed into low rent housing as most of the population found itself either unemployed or barely surviving on the meager wages from working on the assembly lines for the G.A.C. In a city surrounded by nothing, for many there is no escape.
It wasn't long before the city began to eat itself alive with crime, poverty, and murder. An unlikely team of citizen vigilantes assembled to try and make a difference, calling themselves "The Wolf Pack". Their idealistic crusade was cut short, however, when the group was brutally executed. One member, known then as Lone Wolf, made it out alive and would go on to become San Lazaro's longest lasting crime-fighter; Danger Wolf.
In response to the execution of The Wolf Pack and the dangers in the streets, San Lazaro developed the Vigilante Task Force, or V.T.F., as a way for citizens to help clean up the city, and make a few extra bucks for their efforts. Most don't make it for longer than a couple of weeks, and even more set up crimes themselves just to collect the cash. Danger Wolf, as the first registered member of the V.T.F., is not one of these people. He is truly a man with good intentions, fueled by an unquenchable thirst for justice. He is on a mission to bring goodness, hope, and safety back to the people who struggle so desperately in his city.
Now, only a few months away from aging out of the Vigilante Task Force, Danger Wolf is faced with his retirement and the possibility of leaving the city in the hands of less experienced heroes. While many think the V.T.F. only served as a stopgap solution to the city's problems, others feel it did nothing but put a domino mask on the ugly face of crime.
With the city in the throws of what might be its most violent year yet, a janitor finally reaches his breaking point. Co-Opting the persona of the local youth outreach mascot “The Safety Bunny”, he sets out on a macabre solo mission to match brutality with brutality, forgoing the V.T.F. and the rules that go with it.
Danger Wolf must now question his greatest strength, his own sense of righteousness. Will he do his duty to the V.T.F. and track down the Safety Bunny, or will he realize that this lone hero might be the only thing turning the tide of violence in his city. But is that level of violence really in line with justice, goodness, and humanity? Is there a grey area in the black and white view of justice?
Greetings Citizens! We are J. Hunter Richardson and James Thornton and we have written a comic book! A few years back we made a short film for a 24 hour film fest and in those 24 hours Danger Wolf was born. Our friend Roger Biersborn crafted the original Danger Wolf mask and costume for the film. Flash-forward a few years and we just couldn’t stop talking about him (Danger Wolf, not Roger). Since we already had a costume, one Halloween we decided to make another and dress up as crime fighters. On that night, Safety Bunny was born. Over time we developed a rich back-story for our silly crime fighter alter egos and eventually they grew into their own characters.
We have mapped out the entire Danger Wolf Story starting with issue #1, a 32 page complete arc that serves as an introduction to San Lazaro, Danger Wolf and Safety Bunny’s city. We have also completed a short Safety Bunny comic that will serve as another peek into their world and will be include in the PDF package. With the help of Tevy Khou and her amazing illustrations, we have finally brought out characters to life. Now we just want to print it all out.
We need $6,000 to cover the cost of printing, the incentives and most importantly, Tevy’s time and talent. The comic is already written and is in the process of being completed; we just need a little bit of scratch to cover all the costs of making this comic book tangible.
So please, donate what you can, contribute to our cause, and become a member of the Vigilante Task Force.
We added a few more things to get you guys excited!

Risks and challenges
Because this is our first published comic book, there will enviably be some unforeseen challenges we will run into. For now, we have everything set into place for the rewards and printing press, but between now and the time of fulfillment anything can change.
Outside of those things, we feel very confident that we can finish and produce our comic book and rewards on time or possibly even before the promised date.
