The Hartford New Music Festival seeks to promote and champion works by living composers, both established and up-and-coming. We are actively programming a wide variety of works and genres for our fall 2015 season, which will consist of three concerts. The October concert will feature a mixed chamber ensemble, the November concert will consist of brass and saxophone quartets, and the December concert will feature electronic and electro-acoustic works.
There are many costs associated with running this Festival, including paying performers, securing venues, recording concerts, and marketing events. All funds raised in our Kickstarter campaign will go directly to supporting our musicians and ensuring the lasting success of the festival.

Risks and challenges
With new music, it is always difficult to draw more skeptical audiences. A main challenge to our festival will be to properly market ourselves and draw as many people to our concerts as possible. We are not planning to charge admission, but rather accept free will donations at the door. Because of it, drawing as many people with exciting programming will be essential for the success of the festival.
Another potential challenge is to work with performers' schedules to ensure proper rehearsal time for our chosen repertoire. Since we are using musicians that may not have previously played together, it will be important to coordinate properly to create proper ensemble chemistry before the concert dates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
