Production of the remaining units has started
As stated in our last update, we had to put production on hold for a little bit to address a few issues with the production process and we’ve now solved all of those. We’ve produced a small batch to make sure that all the production issues were solved. This batch was shipped to some of our Canadian backers using EMS to see if it’s viable to use as an alternative shipping service.
Production of the remaining 6,000+ units has kicked off again, but courtesy of typhoon Matmo we’re not going to be able to resume shipments until next week. The weather is unfortunately one thing we have no control over, although we’re considering a weather control router for our next Kickstarter campaign.
The good news is that due to this delay we’re shipping all the remaining units with a more recent firmware that addresses a few issues, but sadly we didn’t have time to get the firmware with access point and range extender done in time. That said, we’ve released a beta version of that firmware to our beta and developer backers to make sure that it’s ready for prime time. We were hoping to have a general release of it this week, but we’ve found a couple of bugs that we need to quash before we can do that and as such we expect to release it sometime next week.
We’ve also got a new version of the Android app coming which we expect to release by next week at the latest. The iOS app is still being worked on as we found a couple of last minute issues that had to be addressed. We hope to submit it to Apple for approval by next week. Apologies for the continued delays here, but we don’t want to release something that just causes problems and frustration either.
We know all of you are very eager to get your Almond+ delivered and we’re getting a ton of questions with regards to when everyone’s individual Almond+ is set to ship. The information over at shop.securifi.com indicates that your unit is ready to ship, but please note that this simply means all your shipping data is correct and as soon as your Almond+ is produced, it’ll be sent to you. Once we’ve actually shipped your Almond+, as well as any sensors you might’ve purchased to go with it, we’ll be sending an email which will contain a tracking number for your package. As soon as you get this email your Almond+ should be with you within by the date provided in the tracking information from TNT.
If you need to change your address, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll make sure it gets updated. Note that this will lead to a delay of getting you your Almond+, as we need to re-issue all the paperwork which takes some time to do as it has to be done both internally and with TNT.
We ask you all for a little bit more patience, we are doing our very best to make sure we get the remaining units out as quickly as we possibly can. Please keep in mind that we’re a small team and shipping 7,500 products to as many different destinations around the globe is a big task. We want to make sure that everyone gets the right thing the first time around and that it all arrives intact.
