Production of the remaining units has started

As stated in our last update, we had to put production on hold for a little bit to address a few issues with the production process and we’ve now solved all of those. We’ve produced a small batch to make sure that all the production issues were solved. This batch was shipped to some of our Canadian backers using EMS to see if it’s viable to use as an alternative shipping service.

Production of the remaining 6,000+ units has kicked off again, but courtesy of typhoon Matmo we’re not going to be able to resume shipments until next week. The weather is unfortunately one thing we have no control over, although we’re considering a weather control router for our next Kickstarter campaign.

The good news is that due to this delay we’re shipping all the remaining units with a more recent firmware that addresses a few issues, but sadly we didn’t have time to get the firmware with access point and range extender done in time. That said, we’ve released a beta version of that firmware to our beta and developer backers to make sure that it’s ready for prime time. We were hoping to have a general release of it this week, but we’ve found a couple of bugs that we need to quash before we can do that and as such we expect to release it sometime next week.

We’ve also got a new version of the Android app coming which we expect to release by next week at the latest. The iOS app is still being worked on as we found a couple of last minute issues that had to be addressed. We hope to submit it to Apple for approval by next week. Apologies for the continued delays here, but we don’t want to release something that just causes problems and frustration either.

We know all of you are very eager to get your Almond+ delivered and we’re getting a ton of questions with regards to when everyone’s individual Almond+ is set to ship. The information over at shop.securifi.com indicates that your unit is ready to ship, but please note that this simply means all your shipping data is correct and as soon as your Almond+ is produced, it’ll be sent to you. Once we’ve actually shipped your Almond+, as well as any sensors you might’ve purchased to go with it, we’ll be sending an email which will contain a tracking number for your package. As soon as you get this email your Almond+ should be with you within by the date provided in the tracking information from TNT.

If you need to change your address, please email shop@securifi.com and we’ll make sure it gets updated. Note that this will lead to a delay of getting you your Almond+, as we need to re-issue all the paperwork which takes some time to do as it has to be done both internally and with TNT.

We ask you all for a little bit more patience, we are doing our very best to make sure we get the remaining units out as quickly as we possibly can. Please keep in mind that we’re a small team and shipping 7,500 products to as many different destinations around the globe is a big task. We want to make sure that everyone gets the right thing the first time around and that it all arrives intact.

Cheers

      @Wayne - We'll have a timeline in tomorrows update.

When will the Funky Red Almond+ for Singapore be shipped?

Maybe you can have a timeline of which color & region will be shipped out? So we all can estimate our Almond+ .

      Cheers!

@Bizmip - Yes, it should ship before the end of this week.

@Chris - If only it was that easy ;-)

@Steve - Yours will ship before the end of this week.

@Jonathan - Apologies, we thought we'd get things out a bit quicker, but fret not, it'll be sent this week.

Have to admit, I was excited about mine shipping 'early this week.' Looking forward to seeing a concrete update as to why this didn't happen, or finally receiving a shipping notification. I admit I'm annoyed in general by these delays, but I do very much appreciate the hard work you guys are putting into this product. So many other projects on here either deliver half-baked products or fail outright, so I'm just glad to know we're all eventually getting a great product at a great price, even if it has been substantially delayed.

Could I get an update on my order as well? Black, US version, no sensors, backer number <4K. Thanks.

I appreciate the update. I was just trying to help you from having to answer many people individually, if possible. Thanks.

      Is mine still coming???

    8. SECURIFI Creator on

@Jason - The Almond+'s going to your part of the world will ship at the same time as the EU ones. We'll have a more detailed shipping update this week.

when will i be getting my Almond+?

    10. SECURIFI Creator on

@Chris - Your Almond+ will ship next week if that's what you want to know as you're in the 7k and by the end of this week we should be in the high 5k or low 6k's.

As I mentioned, you've already clarified that it's based on when and where and what, so giving the number would help us to understand (at least for those in the first batch of US black units with no sensors, for example)

    12. SECURIFI Creator on

@Lewis - Afraid not, we're doing our best to get it done as quickly as possible. The EU boards are made, but the current holdup is the assembly process. We'll have more details in this weeks update.

@Chris - It doesn't quite work like that, as it's a mix of backer numbers depending on when and what was pledged for and where they're located.

@Aden - The Australian units will be a single batch, but we have to manually program the Z-Wave chips on those boards as they don't come pre-programmed. We should have a schedule in this weeks update.

What backer numbers are you up to for shipments? Still have not seen any tracking info in my box or spam folder yet.

    15. Aden Kelly on

Would love an update when you start production of the Australian units. I understand this is a while off and you won't be able to give us an ETA. EU units are next of course, but would still be exciting to know when you start building them. :)

    16. Heide Kites on

Got mine today! Setting it up now. US, black, no sensors, backer #2222 I believe.

      Chris Franicica on

The updates are appreciated. It would seem it easier for you to post what backer # you are up to in shipping (as we already understand the order of types of units shipping), rather than having to answer each question individually. Thanks.

    18. Lewis Purvis on

So shipping to the US hasn't finished yet? I have ordered a Black EU one with no sensors. Do you have any idea when you are expecting to ship these unit?

    19. SECURIFI Creator on

@Peter - Currently we're shipping North American units, EU will follow as soon as we're done with those.

@Ari - Shipping did resume last week and as you can see in the main comments thread, backers are receiving their Almond+'s. We're not likely to start shipping the white units until next week though.

    20. Ari Leopold on

@Securifi - 5 days ago you said this week. Should I expect the same answer again this week. Clarification would be useful here??

When will be my arriving? US, Black, No sensor.
Will I be able to pick it at your factory, since I am now in Taiwan for vacation?

    24. SECURIFI Creator on

@Jon - Afraid not. As we've explained previously, the Australia/New Zealand/Brazil units, alongside with Hong Kong and Japan/Taiwan will be the last to go out as we have to manually program the Z-Wave chips and this means the factory process ends up being a bit different. As such, all of these will be the last units we ship. Sorry about this, but we can't buy pre-programmed Z-Wave chips for these regions.

    25. Jon Ovington on

Anything being sent to Australia yet? Single unit in black.
      Great job on the campaign!

    26. SECURIFI Creator on

@Royce - How about before the end of next week? We can't give you an exact date until it ships, but when it does, you'll receive a tracking number and your Almond+ will be with you within 4-5 working days.

    27. Royce Park on

When will mine be coming in? I haven't heard an accurate shipping date since...since ever. Please give me a reliable date to expect my package without ambiguous adjectives like few, several, and couple.

    28. SECURIFI Creator on

@Randall - We're really sorry about all the delays, we'll have some proper deadlines next week. Yours will be going out next week though and it normally takes 4-5 working days for the packages to reach their destinations.

@Paul - It's the least we can do considering all the delays.

    29. Paul Mears on

knocking it out of the park on updates guys! you could teach some of my other project backers a thing or two!

    30. R&R on

Curious on when mine will ship. Will be moving by the end of August. Is it REALLY going to come in time? I've been hearing "a couple of weeks" now for about a month. I would have updated my address a long time ago if we were given genuine timelines, not flights of fancy of when you want things to ship. If I change my address now will it delay my unit? I live in US, ordered black unit, no sensors and am moving within the US.

    31. SECURIFI Creator on

@irvin - The test shipment to Canada went smooth, so we'll most likely continue to use EMS for Canada. It takes us a little bit longer to do the paperwork for those units, but we should be sending the remaining black units to Canada over the next couple of weeks.

@Paul - As you have ordered sensors, your Almond+ will go in the next batch after we've shipped the ones without sensors.

    32. Paul Mears on

since you are doing a good job updating people... when is mine likely to ship?

Hi, I would like an update as to when I will receive mine?
      Thanks

    34. SECURIFI Creator on

@Allen - Yours will ship with the EU units. Currently we're only doing North America due to logistics. We expect to start shipping the EU units in 2-3 weeks.

Can I get an update on my unit?

    36. SECURIFI Creator on

@Nicholas - Your Almond+ should be going out early next week.

@Alexander - The coloured units will ship after the black and white units. This sadly means that yours won't ship for another week and a half to two weeks.

@Jonathan - Yours will also go out early next week.

@Erik - The white ones are likely to start going out the week after next as we have a lot of black units to ship.

      Nicholas S on

No tracking number or shipping info sent yet here.

    40. SECURIFI Creator on

@MrFester - Far from it, however, the coloured units are the last bunch to be sent per region. That said, most if not all of the coloured units per region should go out in a single day, since we don't have that many backers that picked the coloured option and they're no harder for us to manufacture than the black ones. It's simply a matter of logistics and as we've explained, we're doing black, white and then colours.

    41. MrFester on

I am going to take a wild guess that mine will be the very last unit shipped.

    42. SECURIFI Creator on

@Vishal - Sorry, yours were supposed to go in the last batch, but TNT had messed up and not provided a tracking number. It'll ship this week guaranteed, as you're the first one in the next batch.

    43. sorphin on

@Vishal I was earlybird too.. From what we were told, that has nothing to do with it now.. it's what backer # you are/what color almond+/if you ordered sensors too/what country.

@Matt Probably here to troll. 802.11ac is only part of what the Almond+ gives you.. I myself couldn't care less about that part, since the only things I have that can do 'ac' are our phones.

    47. paul cook on

Wow I thought this was coming out last Dec its pointless now I mean they have already moved onto WiFi 802.11ac in almost all routers wish I did not buy this I could have had the router already

@securifi That's fine, I just wanted to make sure we had some sort of update since it's Tuesday (heading into Wednesday here in a couple hours).
