Final call on upgrades and sensor orders

We didn’t plan on posting an update this week, but we wanted to get a small piece of information out that we’ll stop taking orders on upgrades (not including international shipping for those that still need to pay that) and sensors come midnight Sunday the 8th of June Pacific Time. So in other words, if you’ve got a sensor order pending, now is the time to finalize the order if you want them shipped with your Almond+.

The reason why we’re closing things a week or so before we expect the first shipments to take place is so we can collect all the data and make sure we ship the right items to everyone. We’ve had a phenomenal amount of upgrades to white units and we want to apologise to those that ordered upgrades to the other colours that we took so long to enable you to pick the colour you want. If you have paid for a colour upgrade, but were unable to select the colour, if you check your account now, you’ll be able the select the colour you want.

Many of you have asked if we’ll be offering the sensors after we ship the Almond+ to our backers and the short answer is yes. The longer answer is that as far as the Kickstarter campaign is concerned, we sourced the sensors from a third party and this is also why we ended up with a very special deal for those that ordered the power switch, as all of those got upgraded to a version with power monitoring, which the model we originally offered didn’t have. We were also asked if we’d be offering more of these, but we’re not planning on offering this model due to the $20 or so higher cost as we believe the retail cost would simply be too high. What will happen in the future is a different matter, but it’s too early for us to share any plans of any future products. Next week we’ll be providing a manufacturing and shipping update, as by then we’ll have the full picture of how, where and when.

Cheers

@Wesley - It's coming, we're slightly late with the update.

The week is not technically over, but I am jonesing for an update as suggested above "Next week we’ll be providing a manufacturing and shipping update, as by then we’ll have the full picture of how, where and when."

@Aman - Yes, we've already signed up for it. Voice control would indeed be very cool, so fingers crossed we can get it all up and running in the future. A lot of it will depend on which way Apple wants to take this, but there are a few question marks still that we're unclear about.

You guys are great. Thanks for even mentioning that you are taking a look at HomeKit when it eventually comes out. I get a feeling that you set out not just to make money, but also to make a product that you would like to use yourself. It would be a HUGE deal if you can even make simple things work with Apple's HomeKit. Apple's Siri integration would be killer (setting temperatures, executing scenes, etc) all via voice!. Essentially, you would be opening up the entire z-wave/zigbee device catalog to Apple's platform.

You are probably already aware of this, but Apple has made prelimnary HomeKit reference here: https://developer.apple.com/library/prerelease/ios/documentation/HomeKit/Reference/HomeKit_Framework/index.html

@Dash - We're not putting the price of the sensors on the shipping invoice on the box, nor do we include the shipping cost.

@Chad - Please see our reply in the comments section.

I've made an order and got the order number, but I am moving to a different address and I can't change the address on the order. I have already changed my address on the securify account for the almond+. What should I do?

    8. Dash on

Ok.. I'm done... 4 door sensors, 3 keyfobs and 1 motion sensor... that's it... *convincing myself* hahaha..

anyway Securifi, could you please state the price of the almond+ as I pledged and the sensors as a gift that comes with it? coz I know it'll be abit heavy on tax if every items are enlisted with a price tag.

@Randall - We're looking into it, but so far Apple hasn't shared much public information as to what will be required.

@Ryan - Just make another order, as it'll be added to your account and shipped at the same time at no extra cost.

Is there anyway to update/add to an order that was already submitted? I would like to add more sensors if possible.

Maybe this is a dumb question but, out of curiousity, will the almond plus be able to receive a software update that will potentially be compatible with ios home kit or would it require different hardware? Just thought that it might be a great new feature in the fall when ios8 rolls out if it's hardware is compatible. Then again, I'm not a developer so maybe I am way off base with how these things work.
