If you see our CES demo we have shown compatability with an Iris thermostat. Based on our initial tests not all Iris sensors strictly follow the ZigBee or Z-Wave standards. We will be compatible with those sensors from Iris that are fully standards compatible.
We have not investigated this ourselves. But it is reported that Nest doesn’t want anyone else’s controller to be compatible with their thermostat.
Yes, it is. But it should be firmware upgradable to the final standard once its ratified. Unlike 802.11n standard which had 2 different factions supporting competing standards, all the chipset vendors are behind a single standard with 802.11ac. We dont expect there will be any risk that Almond+ cannot be upgraded to the final version.
