1st Stretch Goal - £5,000 - REACHED!

If we reach this level, a full length adventure will be written and supplied in pdf format to all backers!

2nd Stretch Goal - £6,000 - REACHED!

At this point, we will produce a monster set of paper miniatures (~100 figures) to go with the game.  The exact make up of the set will be discussed on the playtest forums, but will include aliens, humans, robots, starships, vehicles and more.

3rd Stretch Goal - £7,000

I know that there is not much time and a fair way to go, but if we do reach £7k, we will produce a starship catalogue, very much along the lines of our "Ultimate...catalogues".  This would have a fair range of ships, modules, etc, and would be sent as a pdf to all backers.  Hardcopy backers would also get a coupon for a discounted print version!

In 2011 Arion Games revamped and re-released the Advanced Fighting Fantasy RPG originally written by Marc Gascoigne, Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone.

This classic game has proved to be very popular in the five years since its release, which has also seen the release of nine more supplements.

The original run of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks also featured several Science Fiction adventures, and so we at Arion Games felt it was time for a SciFi version of this fantastic ruleset.

And thus we bring you: Stellar Adventures

This standalone game will allow just about any type of SciFi adventures from soldiers in powered armour vs vicious alien monsters to the command crew of an imperial frontier explorer ship.  Small time traders moving between starports to space bounty hunters.  Dystopian robot hunters to rebels fighting against a corrupt government.

The core rules have all been planned out, and the first draft of several chapters have been written, but we would like interested KS backers to join the playtest of the game as soon as the campaign has finished.

The game has the same core rules as the fantasy version of AFF, but has new skills, talents, weapons, armour and rules.

The provisional Chapter list is:

     Chapter 1 - Hero Creation

     Chapter 2 - Game Rules

     Chapter 3 - Combat

     Chapter 4 - Equipment

     Chapter 5 - Robots

Chapter 6 - Starships and Vehicles

     Chapter 7 - Psionics

     Chapter 8 - Aliens

Chapter 9 - Trade and Organisations

     Chapter 10 - Setting Ideas

     Chapter 11 - Campaign Ideas

We are also in discussion to include original art from many of the Science Fiction Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, as well as commissioning new art where appropriate.

Update: The cover art you see above has now been approved, as well as art from the Rebel Planet, Star Strider and Robot Commando gamebooks.  Negotiations are ongoing!

Risks and challenges

As with any written project, there can be no 100% guarantees. However, the rules are planned and written into playtest form, art is legacy and so just needs to be paid for and the writing should not take too long once the playtest is finished. Being based on an existing system means that the playtest itself should be fairly straighforward.
As this is our 5th KS (and 6th crowdfunded book), we are aware of the potential issues involved. We are not planning additional products as stretch goals, and so the target of a November release is eminently do-able.
